    Default I'm confused

Why does vaping VG or PG cause a dry sore throat when they are both moistening agents? People use them to soften and moisten skin.

It must be the nicotine in them huh?

PG is a humectrant and when vaping the back of the throat gets coated. You can find that after sleeping, you wake up with a sore throat. Things that can help are drinking a glass of water before bed, gargling with a mouthwash to cut the PG coating before bed, drinking water throughout the day, using hard candies and drinking liquids with honey liquid thru the day to keep your mouth moist.

Yes but a humectant is a moistening agent.

–noun 1. a substance that absorbs or helps another substance retain moisture, as glycerol.
–adjective 2. moistening; diluting. 3. of or pertaining to a humectant or humectants.
Humectant - A substance that attracts and holds moisture unto itself, such as glycerin.

So I don't get it why would PG or VG dry your throat out?
Maybe it's the nicotine in the liquid that dries your throat out.

    That's probably it.

PG/VG when used ON SKIN protects the skin from losing moisture by absorbing it from the air. Internally, it absorbs the moisture from your body. Its not the nicotine.

Just an addition to this info. PG/VG are hydrophilic, which means they love water (and not in a friendly way ). On your skin they will pull moisture from the air, because the air usually has more moisture than the upper layers of skin on your body. In your throat, they pull moisture from your throat because it often has more moisture than the air.

This makes me wonder if vaping would moisturize your throat in the Brazilian rain forest... isn't the air there insanely humid?
