1Drastically improved respriratory function. 2Urge to light analog vanished. 3Drastically improved physical fortitude and overall cardio-endurance. 4Notably improved olfactory senses. 5Improved ability to taste food. 6Fatter wallet. 7Increased hatred of federal government. All good things especially number 7 (rot in hell hamburg you murderess)

I've quit smoking before (once for 4 months, another time for 7 months, craving the whole time -- I'm convinced its because of an issue I deal with that doesn't let me heal well -- I think the nicotine neurons in me just never healed up after the 2 weeks or so that they're supposed to) so I already knew most of the benefits of just not smoking to expect (breathing better, better sense of smell, regular little 'throat clearing' thing being gone, deep rattly wheezing would be gone) This is mostly unexpected temporary transitional stuff (while going from analogs to e cigs and snus): Since this time I went from smoking to e-cigs and snus, it was different, almost no cravings was an unexpected obvious perk (the snus makes up most of my steady real diet of nicotine but the e-cigs fullfill the actual need to smoke when it comes, I just use my e-cig instead those times) I had some weird vivid dream activity and one night time really big weird panic attack (though those were probably from falling asleep with a snus in my mouth but could have been also from just a change in my nicotine levels.. I have no idea if I've gone up or down but you know it had to be a change one way or the other) another thing I didn't expect was a sort of weird hyperactivity almost "ADHD" or "ADD" like thing for about the first week.. I couldn't sit here at my computer and search things or read anything for more than five minutes (I'm usualy the other extreme from "ADHD/ADD" I normally have 'hyperattentiveness' aka 'the inability to change focus in a timely manner' or whatever, apparently I tend the other way, to 'lock and load' focus on something to the point of it being a deficit or a problem the other way, get all annoyed at being interrupted not getting enough time at something etc) so this was pretty weird for me to be suddenly bouncing around going 'oh I can't read this any more I can't look at this any more' having to stop what I was doing to just to go find something else to do every 5 to 20 minutes, go to the TV, look at it flip channels a few turns (I seldom watch TV because it annoys me unless I get into some weird rare sitting there watching a marathon of something on some cable channel thing) but I was flipping channels, bouncing away from that, back to computer, wandering around in here a bit feeling restless and something I really rarely ever feel and that's 'bored' all that was pretty unexpected and I'm glad that eventually died down. I had a couple of sudden 'red rage' things that scared me (and those where the last two times I smoked analogs, purposely, in response to those weird red rage things) they were sudden just adrenaline total over-reactions to things where I felt my whole body just tense and get angry adrenaline preparedness to throw something or pitch a fit (obviously without my consent or permission!) Thats when I thought 'okay, lets just go out on the balcony and have a cigarette' (not because of a cig craving but because it was just a guess on my part that not having them was part of causing this and would be a solution and I was right) and yes, having the analog made me 'sane' again right away (thought the analogs themselves really sucked). I was surprised how heavy the smoke of those analogs were, and how bitter, and how ugly and strange colored the smoke coming out of them and my mouth was. I couldn't really inhale it and I was surprised at that, I had just hold the analog smoke in my mouth as long as I could stand it. I kept trying to 'prime' the analog with a startup inhale like you do on e-cigs, and even though I caught myself doing that and even though knew it wasn't necessary on an analog I couldn't seem to make myself stop doing that. I really didn't change how much I eat, didn't increase it or anything but I noticed I still gained just a little weight anyway which I thought was strange until I read something about nicotine increasing your metabolism (I really do think in retrospect I had a dip down in my nicotine because I wasn't used to the snus yet so I couldn't really have them in my mouth regularly like I needed and as much as I like e-cigs I'm really pretty sure that I really don't get much if any of actual nicotine from them, at least not using them the normal standard way you're supposed to/most people do.. though lately/later on I've discovered something that does maybe seem to get it for me more, a strange way to use my e cigs that seems to work for me.. literally inhaling from it right through my nose but that's another topic for another thread, and not something I had figured out yet then). I think my nicotine level was just really 'bouncy' and probably all over the place at first, probably going from too much to too little for me and back and forth, especially early on while I got this sorted and adjusted more of a pattern of just what and when I need to do. I had a real problem with the fact that e-cigs don't burn up so there is no 'timer' no 'smoking session' no start and finish to it like with analogs, so I had no cue when I had enough, and done, wasn't expecting that and that gave me some problems with feeling completed/satisfied. That's gotten a bit better over time I really had to go stand outside where I had smoked analogs, and guess about how long would be an analog's worth just to try to get over this and reinforce that I had 'smoked' or had a cigarette's worth of nicotine/e cig. I sat there with the ashtray and all, annoyed I couldn't put my unyielding e-cig in the ashtray's little side slot to complete the little ritual (I hadn't realized just what a powerful thing that whole psychological thing of routine really is) Last edited by whistlrr; 10-23-2009 at 02:03 AM. I actually quit smoking about 2 years ago. My friends around me noticed my behavior change. In short, I turned into a real arse-bag. Grumpy, growly, and snappy. My wife finally said you should just start smoking again.....that was a year ago. So a year ago I started again. Now I was nice, happy, and the usual me....except a smoker, again. Now I stumbled on ECigs, and I have quit again!! But no more MrGrumpy! Ive also noticed the above findings - endurance, taste changes, extra cash too! |

I find it funny that the ones who want you to quit force them on you after a certain point. I noticed less sinus pressure, breathing is much easier no more clogged snotbox. No more racoon eye puffiness, the taster is going into wierd overdrive. No more stank finger.

quote - WHISTLRR "I had some weird vivid dream activity and one night time really big weird panic attack (though those were probably from falling asleep with a snus in my mouth but could have been also from just a change in my nicotine levels.. I have no idea if I've gone up or down but you know it had to be a change one way or the other)" That reminds me of an issue I have had --- The 1st week or so Vaping did have a direct effect in my Anxiety Rising.. However it was very sporatic. EX: I could Vape constantly & Nothing --- Or I could take a few puffs & damn near have a full blown attack ---- Or Vape and have nothing happen... One day my Axiety was just constant, all day, and gradually increasing.... This is kind of worse to me than an actual attack, because the entire day I just kept having these waves of increasing panics & tingling arms etc etc... Anyways, Long story short - By that nite my Anxiety was just overwhelming me ...... So I actually lit up a Newport from my last pack that had been in freezer since I got ECIG.... and it was like medicine, it curved the anxiety by about half on the 1st drag...... I smoked half the analog & got anxiety to a tolerable level... I've ony been getting these Anxiety Attacks for about the last 8 months , way before I started Vaping... and when I smoked Analogs I never experienced relief from anxiety by smoking a cigartette, but this time it worked like a charm ...... However, the Anxiety feeling that I was getting from Vaping subsided & is now completely non-existent as far as being linked to vaping.... On a side Note - The few puffs I have taken from Analogs since I started Vaping are quite an experience in their own rite ![]() 1st - I thought I missed the Harsh / Nastiness of a newport throat hit.... However, the puffs I have taken are quite tame in comparison to Vaping a menthol liquid .... 2nd - The analogs nastiness has multiplied since I went to Vaping... Vaping is such a clean taste compared to analogs... LOL, I have always said that if cigarettes tasted the way they do when I am sick that I wouldn't smoke them... NOW THEY DO ! Weeeeeeeeeeee 3rd - The few times I have puffed on analogs has been 100% mental curiousity and not a necessity at all... When I would read posts about people that it took a few weeks to quit or still smoked & Vaped I was baffled .... I was like why can't they just quit immediately like I did, but I can kind of understand the "Timing" aspect --- Although I don't physically crave an analog EVER ! Theres certain times & activities that my mind not only tells me I need a "CIG" but it also tells me that Vaping is NOT what it wants... If that makes any sense............... Ex: after eating was always prime time for a good old cig * Now after eating my mind still says its time for a cig & vaping isn't gonna work --- Ex: After sex, Great time for a Cig * Vaping just don't seem to compare Ex: Wake up & smoke a cig * Waking up & Vaping is not same .. Ex: Being around my dad (stress), always had a cig in my mouth when around him * Vaping not same..Anyways, thats enough examples - Luckily I am smart enough to realize these are mental cravings & sure enough these cravings pass usually within a few minutes... Sorry if I drifted off topic LOL , if not damn near drove off the road... PeacE, HYDRO |

Hi Everyone, New here... I am sooo glad to hear someone else has had an anxiety attack from vaping...Im not able to start a thread yet since Im so new... I have been vaping for 2 weeks now and the other day ( after kind of a heavy day of vaping and drinking with friends) I felt really wierd and anxious and was a little worried..Thakfully it has not happened again... As for positive results since quitting analogs... I not coughing at night or in the a.m. any longer... I can breath better already, my house smells better and best of all, I have not gained weight like when you usually try to quit smoking. | |
