I bought my first e-cig to take to my daughter's (her & hubby hated the smell & they preferred I didn’t smell like an ashtray around my granddaughter).
I really had no intention of giving up analogs since I’d tried to quit before. My attempts always failed and when I went back to smoking, I’d smoke more than before.
I bought my first at a local tobacco store and paid an outlandish price. It was the smoke51 and I got extra cartridges. After the first day, I was in awe of the darn thing. I puffed away and had no urge for the real thing.
About two days in, I was shopping and the batteries died on me so I got out an analog---tasted horrible. At that point, I knew that as long as I had my e-cig, I never go back to analogs. And that started my journey to find my favorite model which turned out to be the 901 atty on my wall wart mods and 102 for batteries.
About two years ago, I started using an extra filter on my analogs so I wasn’t getting the full effects of the chemicals and tar in the cigarette, but still once I was off them I had issues. The first week, I was horribly grumpy, and I was still kind of that way the second week and my poor daughter and family had to live through that.
When I got home, I was experiencing some pretty bad headaches, but I’ve had trouble with migraines off and on during my life so it really didn’t send up any red flags. RW, DH, who was a bit more worried about them than me, found ECF and their health thread. Both of us attributed my headaches to withdrawal.
RW (an occasional smoker who used one of my e-cigs on Tuesday when he played pool with his buds) gave up on visiting ECF and I missed being updated by him, so I started coming and became addicted to the place. So much so, I’ve ignored the novel I’m working on, and other general everyday stuff.
There are days RW is very sorry he ever found the place.
About this time, everyone started calling the e-cig a PV and the headaches continued so I went to see my doctor. Just like Rave, my blood pressure dropped (just not bad enough to put me in the hospital). I said goodbye to a BP med.
Other things I’ve noticed other than just generally feeling better and having more energy.
My dog doesn’t avoid me when I pick up my PV.
Smell and taste have improved.
I breath better (I no longer use Advair and/or my inhaler).
The heaviness in my chest is gone and so is the rattle.
My sinuses rarely act up and I’ve lost the cough.
Just in the last month, when I walk my dog, my legs no longer hurt.
My hearing has improved.

Looking forward to reading all the replies to this question.
I have smoked for 14 years. Not one day have I been without a cigarette since I started.
I tried Chantix earlier this year and cut down for a bit but was very tired so I stopped.

I got my e cig about 3 weeks ago and started using it a bit. Almost 2 weeks ago I smoked my last cigarette! I can't believe I did it but I am not interested in getting an analog. I was a clove smoker, then flavored little cigars even though they looked like regular cigarettes. I am so proud of myself!

My husband is using his e cig a lot but when he lights up an analog it smells horrible to me and I notice my sense of smell is coming back which I am very happy about.

It's funny about the voice thing. When I first started vaping I noticed my voice change almost instantly. To me it actually sounded a tad deeper than usual, which bothered me a little since I am a woman. :P So, I started asking people if I sounded any different to them and they said yes, but they didn't say it was "deeper" but more clear like they could hear my words better. I'm glad I can now use the full range of my voice. Heck, I may even pick up singing.

Its crossed my mind a few times on filling out certain forms how nice it will be to put down Non-Smoker

I've loved the fact of putting my ashtray up & not having it around all the time...

Since I am a tech-nerd its nice to have a hobby like this thats sooo beneficial & nerdy at the same time ... I like learning about all the different models / mods / liquids, etc etc ...

Something that is kind of interesting me is someone who posted about how they are losing the desire to Vape even tho they Loved it.... I Love Vaping & in all honesty I probably do it quite a bit more than I smoked....

Heres what interesting tho, I feel like the desire to Vape is probably 90% enjoyment / hobby-istic and 10% nicotine related... When I smoked analogs it was more like 50-50... This has me thinking and feeling like when & if I want to quit Vaping , it will be soooo much easier than quitting smoking

The time I can go between Vaping is MUCH MUCH longer than how long I used to be able to go w/out smoking...

**** Keep The Posts Coming Guys **** I am really glad this thread turned out to be so informative & helpful for everyone

Thanks,
HYDRO

After about 6 years of smoking (And I'm only 19 !) I was able to quit cold turkey, very happy about that.

Side effects that I have noticed: Taste, and smell very much enhanced. Sleeping much better. Breathing much better. My overall mood seems to be greatly enhanced as well. And also I've noticed my appetite has decreased.

Hi everyone for those who don't know me, I'm still sorta new to the forums :-)

I just started using the e-cig a week ago (Smoking Everywhere - Gold Edition.... I know I know, not a great first choice but it was at a local mall and decided to try it). Even though I do not like SE Gold very much manly because of the poor throat hits, poor vapor and not so great flavors, I would still love to explore the wonderful world of other and better e-cigs.

I've noticed something different about me.... I was a half a pack, to a pack a day kinda girl who smoked Marlboro 100 mediums or Camel Wide Lights... since e-cigs I've cut done to a good 2-4 analogs a day! I noticed I can actually smell the yucky smell that analog had and I admit, I still smoke analog, but its a progress... its gotten me this far. Much better than cold turkey or the gum would by far. Haven't noticed any changes in my snoring habits just yet but I do hope that goes away! I also noticed my lungs feels a lot better! I don't feel crappy.

The only problem I have is fighting my urges for a analog. I can be happy with just 4 at most a day, usually 2 but how to I completely stop? What do I do if my battery dies out or my cartridge ran out of flavor and I don't have any juice on me and having a grumpy day?

Started with a simple PT, but just got my Mini Pipe in the other day and I'm loving it.

So far, I have not had a single analog since I first got the PT, so that's been 12 days now and not even a craving for one.
