    Default PG vs. VG

Well I got my girlfriend a 510. Though her transition isn't going as smoothly as mine did. She hasn't been able to adjust to the e-cig over the last few days due to hacking/coughing. She was vaping 18mg pg based vanilla and couldn't take even one puff without hacking. So I cut it 50/50 glycerine/pg nic juice. She was able to take short quick mouth puffs with it, though after 2 full puffs she would start hacking. Tonight I got some homemade raspberry glycerine no nicotine juice from a friend, put it in her cig and she had no issues with the coughing. I fear without the nicotine she won't be able to break away from the analogs completely. Any advice on juice with nicotine that she could handle?

I wasn't able to inhale a cigarette for at least the last year because it'd done me such harm and would throw me into a coughing attack that wasn't worth inhaling for. But the first drag I had on my new 901 was unbelievably as smooth as silk, and I just couldn't believe it! I couldn't feel any throat hit whatsoever and was grateful for that. I think I was vaping a 11mg or 18 mg mic vanilla flavor. So I don't understand why vaping is causing your girlfriend to cough.

I've tried a lot of juices but the Mint is the only one that seems to give me a strong throat hit and can come close to making me cough. But I think it's the Mint as much as the Nicotine that's responsible. I get the idea on this Forum that generally people here feel that the more the nicotine the greater the throat hit, but I'm just not sure.

She may not need a boatload of nicotine. Maybe if she tried about 11mg nicotine in the very mild vanilla it'd help. Also, I have both the 510 and 901 and the 510 seems to give a strong throat hit, the 901 almost none, and I don't know why that would be either. She might do better with the 901.

Don't give up. I feel strongly that although a lot of people do well from the get-go on these PV's, some just have to work a little harder to find the right combination of PV, juice, and nicotine. If she's got any desire whatsoever to get off the cigarettes, that's a big head start. Good luck to both of you, you're doing a good deed!

Well she went over too her friends smoked her VG juice in her 510 and was perfectly fine. So I guess she was having slight reactions to the PG. So I'll just have to get her some vg nic juice.

I can't smoke PG at all. Doesn't make me cough though. It makes my teeth ache. Gives me a horrible headache. VG is great though! I wish more companies were making 100% VG liquid. So far, Ecopure is the only VG liquid I've found that I like.

VG.....I forgot to address that. I love it. It's essentially tasteless with a touch of sweetness and creates lots of vapor. I read here that a lot of people seem to be allergic to PG. Yea....VG just could be the answer!

I can handle the reduced PG from johnson creek in low or no nicotine. I also am learning to make my own VG juice with no nicotine and loranns flavorings. Juicy liquid has VG DIY kits and VG based flavors, the loranns I have has PG in it.

It could well be that the coughing is from added alcohol to the juice. In your experiment with the no nic juice, it sounds like it was also no alcohol. Alcohol is commonly added to commercial flavored juices.

I actually find that alcohol can add as much of a throat hit as nic, if not more. VT Vapor's 35 mg unflavored has no alcohol, and only VG as the vehicle. They have a 15% discount until the end of the month. About $15 for 30 mL of 35 mg VG is a good deal.

No I'm not affiliated, just a fan.

Some Vermont Vapor flavors have PG in the flavoring so be careful. The ones without it are the tobacco flavors including maple and vanilla, mint, chocolate, chocolate mint, and coffee. The other good and tasty sounding flavors have PG in the flavorings. For many of us, even a little bit of PG is too much.

When you see natural flavoring or natural and artificial flavoring listed on a VG based juice, you need to write to the company and ask them if there is a bit of PG in the flavoring. Almost all have it.

I would love to find some type of flavoring that had the fruit flavors and vanilla without any PG in the flavoring. And, yes, I am really that sensitive (and so are many others).

Bitey, out of curiousity, how did you find out about those certain flavors at Vermont Vapor being completely PG free? I have been curious about them for the past few days. Dawn at DIYflavorshack told me the same about most flavorings having PG. I had an extreme allergic reaction the very first day I got my e-cig and have been unable to use it. My VG ones from DIY are coming today. Have you been able to do fine on VG? Or did you still have a lot of discomfort until your body got used to it? Feel free to pm me
