    Default info from my Doctors

Some background on me, I smoked about 10 or so yrs before finding ecigs and my PV of choice. So I was in the hospital for a while in Dec and got to talk to some doctors. They did all kinds of tests and things on the chest and lungs while I was in there. I got to talk to 3 different lung specialists including my eventual surgeon about ecigs. Been vaping about 3-4 months and all the doctors said my lungs looked great besides for being sick. They all have heard about ecigs and think highly of them. They categorized me as a non-smoker even though I vape. I know this is by no means a medical endorsement or official study, so its not going to make a difference legally, but i think its great that word is spreading in the medical field about vaping. It means our entire vaping community is getting the word out more and more. Doctors are becoming more aware of vaping and supporting it instead of replacement drugs and other inefficient methods of becoming a non-smoker. Sorry for the wall of text but I thought it might be as interesting for people to hear as I thought it was.

It is always welcome news when more doctors come on board. Word of mouth may travel slow, but it travels far and wide.
Good Luck and better health to you.

This is very encouraging information....thank you for sharing.

And, the best of luck with your surgery. I know the fact that you are an ex-tobacco user, and not a current tobacco user, will assist much in your recovery!

That is great. I have had similar input from my endocrinologist, who says "There's no way they could be worse for you than cigarettes", saw my perfect blood O2 level, and said "Just keep up what you're doing to stop smoking."

I really think doctors will be some of our best and most reasonable advocates in this fight. As I've said elsewhere, they are open to scientific evidence, and they're respected members of society -- and they're not culture warriors by trade, like legislators are. ("Ahhh! Ohmigod! It looks like a cigarette! Think of the childrenzzzz!")

Well put, Madame. I find that a lot of doctors take on too many patients, and therefore, are unable to keep up with scientific news. On another post, I was discussing D3 and how docs are still ordering regular vit D tests, then prescribing the wrong D.
Let's just hope more and more physicians listen and advocate for their patients. I know I have to stay on top of my care, as do you. Sometimes, we are one step ahead of them.

I get my health care through a large HMO and my doctor was thrilled that I switched to PVs. I have to wonder if insurance companies might not be an asset in our campaign for harm reduction products.

Just a bit of sarcasm here against insurance companies.

I doubt it since vaping makes some break out in pimples.
Acne probably will cost them less, but still, will cost them.

State Farm banned the use of ecig not too long ago.

But isn't State Farm life insurance? I'm talking about HMOs and medical insurance. But come to think of it, the lawyers would get involved and spoil everything. Once again, until we have some good published studies it's hard to get support...gawd, that mantra is getting pretty tiresome.

Privately though, I do think doctors are generally becoming very accepting and even encouraging or PVs. It's good to hear your story Blooper.

I work for a major health care provider and ecigs are banned from use in our offices.
