    I would suspect that since most of us are smokers who switched or cut down of cigarettes, maybe the fact that we stopped and our lungs are healing and making us cough up more doesn't have anything to do with the vaping, its just the fact that we quit and now our lungs are getting rid of all that crap
    just my thoughts (;

    In the beginning, that's absolutely true. For the first few weeks of vaping, I coughed up loads of dirty, brown smoking crap, then it thinned, then it stopped. In my case it was helped along by COPD medication. Vapour is wet, just like any medical-type inhalation treatment e.g. nebulising and the moisture helps loosen foreign stuff in the lungs.

    However, then it starts to build again, first small amounts of a thin, clear e-plegm, then thicker, then a bit brown, then shortness of breath ....... that's what this thread is about.

    In my opinion though, even in the relatively long term, vaping is still a healthier choice. I intend, now that I'm off analogs entirely to start cutting back, and then eliminating my nic intake. Once I do that, I may miss vaping, but I won't go back to smoking for sure, and probably not vaping. I may keep my PV around for that occasional indulgence, which used to be a cigar. If I do that as an occasional indulgence at that point, it won't run the risk of turning me back into a pack a day smoker and I'll be healthier for it. Just remember, legally speaking PVs are not a smoking cessation product, but there's no reason we can't use them that way, and this info suggests that we probably should.

    3 months into vaping, quit analogs before picking up vaping, run 3 miles a day 4 to 5 times a week, take two high rep weight classes a week at my gym, religiously drink 3L to a gallon of water per day, no phlegm, no shortness of breath, feel no different then I did 3 months ago.

    Glad to know what I should be looking for though. Time will tell.

    I'm not trying to diminish anyone elses feelings or concerns. But does anyone else see the humor in the fact that most of us spent at least 20 years inhaling stuff that we knew had a proven link to cancer and now we're freaking out over clear phlegm?

    Yeah, but I think it's the known vs. the unknown......

    Maybe not freaking out, but certainly weary. Smoking took many years, even decades to give rise to worrying symptoms, whilst vaping is doing it, to at least some people, in only a couple of months. That's quick and if it gets worse at the same rate, could indicate vaping is far more dangerous than smoking. Doesn't help much if we're immune to cancer but die of respiratory disease.

    I seriously doubt that vaping could ever be far worse than smoking. You are not lighting up and creating a combustion of some 4000 chemicals.....

    It doesn't necessarily take 4000 chemicals to kill, sometimes it can just take one.
    I agree that the speed at which some vaporers experience symptoms is alarming.
    if you're happy and you know it pop a snus!

    Some of these same vaporers will be the first to tell you that their health is still greatly improved and has been verified by their doctors. Monitoring you health is always important.
