Propylene Glycol and Causing Lowered Blood PH?
The wiki on prylene glycol states that "Like ethylene glycol, propylene glycol affects the body's chemistry by increasing the amount of acid. Propylene glycol is metabolized into pyruvic acid, which is a normal metabolite in the breakdown of glucose, while ethylene glycol is metabolized into oxalic acid, which is toxic."
Does anyone know if this is creating a lower than normal than blood ph?
The reason I ask is that I am diagnosed ADD and take Adderall for treatment.
The drug is suggested not to be taken with acidic food or drinks because this blocks the absorption of the drug.
I've only been a vaper for a half a week now. Before that I was a pack a day smoker, but I've noticed that the Adderell is not nearly as effective as it was before i became an e-smoker.
Coul Propylene Glycol be the culprit here? If it is, does a solution or alternative exist to minimizing the affect of acid production or increase from PG? Thanks in advance.

I doubt it has anything to do with PG vaping. As with any addictive drug, tolerance will always be a factor, even at theraputic doses.

I have no idea if it is affecting your Adderall (you should ask your doctor) but you could always try a VG based juice. Johnstone Creek in the US sells it. It's a sweeter juice with milder tastes but some (Tennessee Cured for example) are quite nice.
I believe VG (Glycerin) is converted to glucose which shouldn't pose a problem.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Your blood is well buffered against ph change. If you do a quick serach on blood ph im sure you will find that your body doesnt really fluctuate much at all on ph due to these buffers.
Im no doc but from what i understand, your blood should never even fluctuate 1 point in pH.

Yep, this is not likely to cause a harmful PH shift. I had my blood PH tested within the past six months, however, just because I feared propylene glycol was becoming lactic acid, like overworked muscles produce, and wondering if the body could handle it. I was in "normal" range.
At your next blood test, ask for a PH check just to ease your mind. And check on drug interactions, too.

Bob what is your take on lactic acid produced vaping affecting activities already hampered by this such as skiiing, snowboarding, hiking, ect?

OutofStep, perhaps you could double check your nicotine dose, apparently that makes a difference with ADD. You might not be getting the same amount that you are used to since starting vaping.

I've taking to drinking Baking soda mixed with water whenever I feel icky or sore. It's supposed to raise your ph and help with lactic acid, but don't know if it works through the stomach. I usually take it before bed, so of course I feel better when I'm sleeping, lol. I need to test it when I'm wide awake and feeling "creepy" for an accurate experiment. At any rate, it doesn't hurt anything and they have the directions to drink it on the box.
