I know I'm being a bit facetious here but I find it a bit silly to be worried about inhaling pg when we have been inhaling arsenic, tar etc etc. I am worried that e-smokers are going to be worse than reformed smokers. eg reformed "omg that cig smell is revolting" esmokers "omg how can you inhale that pg it'll kill you" |

TropicalBob: Un problema. I just started these things. First day all okay. Yesterday and today I am coughing with each pull and was told I could be having a reaction to the GP and go to the VG. I am somewhat lost now. I have COPD and not sure if that contributes to the cough and if glycerin will do the same thing. All I know is I can't smoke cigs but I don't want to give up smoking. "I" need to know how or if GP is causing the choke/cough and I don't know where to find out. Do you know? Can you guide me where to look? I feel lost trying to walk around in here. |

But can glycerin cause you to cough as the PG does. I have COPD and don't know if that has anything to do with it. ???

Unless other members here have had COPD and could say first hand, you may not get a good answer here. We're all just learning about the stuff ourselves...often learning by trial and error, and experience. No one here may have had this experience so again, you may not get a good answer. Sorry! Lu |

Just put pure glycerine into the atomizer and see if that still gives you the cough.

I think she's trying to see if someone already knows before she tries it. Lu |

I dont know any scientific figures on PG but as a firefighter we use PG ALOT inour smoke machines to smoke up buildings during exercises/drills. We may spend an hour to 8 hours in there throughout the day breathing it in with every breath. With the number of fire departments that use this stuff daily in such enclosed and vaped up areas..you'd think someone somewhere would have either done tests to consider it safe or people would have been dropping with serious reations to prove its danger. Ive probrably inhaled more of it before I found out about e-smoking than I ever will with an e-cig |

Ladybug, there isn't a definitive answer because there hasn't been enough study. But we know PG kills germs (read the thread on germ-killing vapor). We also know some PG makers advise against inhaling it or getting a mist in the eyes. I really think your lungs are just super-sensitive now, so you're probably reacting to everything in the liquid. You can buy vegetable glycerine at a health food store. It's safe to use. Try that by itself. It will make lots of vapor, taste sickly sweet but not disgusting. If you don't cough, try mixing some commercial liquid with some glycerine (50/50) and see if you cough. You have to work your way up from "no cough" to "this makes me cough" and then stick with the "no cough" formula. Good luck. |

I've been reading about propylene glycol for about a week and a half (while i wait on my blu cigs to come) It seems to me that this stuff should be ok. And as far as buildup of the substance in your body i don't think it should be an issue. This stuff is in lots of things you use every day. toothpaste, deodorant sticks, food additives, lotions, makeup. the stuff you really should worry about is the industrial strength stuff there are 2 different versions (industrial strength and regular) and they are both very different strengths form what I've read. I was reading one artical that stated PG is only a MILD irritant if you're working on it in an industrial setting. Analog cigs are probably a strong irritant that we sit there and smoke on an industrial level. |

As it turns out, there have been no noticeable effects of PG inhalation, beside minor irritation. The only issues (mutation, etc.) that they have found come from when there are significant amounts of PG, which does not happen in inhalation, and certainly not in the low amounts within an e-cig cartridge. In fact, there was a study published in TIME magazine a very long time ago that showed that PG in vapor actually kills any influenza, strep, and pneumonia it comes into contact with. So it may actually be keeping you healthier. Not to mention the neural stimulation of nicotine helping with memory retention and recall. E-cigs may be the best thing that ever happened to me. |
