A Tale of Two Futures of the Electronic Cigarette

Most of the taxes collected from smoking come from people buying cigarettes. That would be why cigarettes went up by 50% in cost recently and roll your own tobacco (which used to be the cheaper alternative) went up by 400%. very little of the tax burden is paid by Big Tobacco or the suppliers of tobacco. Look at all of those SmokeFree banners and figure out that 2/3 of the money saved is tax money. Think of how all that adds up. That is what the government is not able to collect now that we have switched. Multiply that by new people starting vaping every day. Of course they're scared. They may have to raise taxes for everyone instead of just going after those of us who most people can look down on.
