I'm assuming the slits cut into the sides are open for venting, correct? If so, will this allow "stuff" to get inside the battery tube (dirt, dust, other assorted schmutz)?

The slots are for ventilation yes. I haven't had any issues with dirt or dust or "stuff" so to say, but i don't know that a lot of that is also carried in my pocket. It would also fall out when you remove the battery, or have the ability to be wiped off from the inside and out... but it's not like it would 'collect' inside the device.

I have other mods with bottom vents, etc, never gotten anything in them either really.
