Carts suck, which is why I'm not so sure about this Tesla cart until I actually see what it is, and with dripping you have to top up way too often. Cartos are the key, IMHO. I never get a burnt taste unless it runs dry.
I just ordered some cartos from V4L. If I don't like those I may have to try the reg 510 cartos too. For now I'm going to use a 510 to 901 adapter to try the one from V4L.

Mik, good to know they are still in the works. I look forward to trying them out as soon as they're available.

Except for the e2 cartos that just came out, I have tried all the cartos out there since they arrived in the US. Cartos are in no way comparable to three piece ecigs. The only advantage that cartos have is ease of use.....but as far as performance and taste goes there is no comparison. Cartos start to taste funky after one or two refills....not to mention that all cartos burn....whether you can taste it or not.

I have been using a cartridge mod with a penstyle for the last six months. Since then I threw away all my cartos. Once you get used to a good three piece you won't be able to use cartos because of the horrible taste that all of them have after a couple of refills (I didn't realize that when I was using them though).

I am really looking forward the Tesla filter because even though my my cartridge mod works pretty good...sometimes at a party or other situation it is a total hassle to refill a cartridge. It would be nice to have something that you can just pop in there and work. A really well designed cartridge would make the cartos obsolete IMO.

Hmmm - well, today I have been using a lr cartomiser from Toby at Ivapour and it is great imho. I have refilled it twice and have none of the problems you mention. Perhaps it's a matter of personal taste, or maybe I haven't used it long enough (though I am a chain vaper). I have removed the end of the cart and put a drip-tip on it as I prefer them. When topping up I remove the drip tip and add liquid at the edges, which seems just fine.

I've been dripping exclusively for some time now and was very hesitant about using any sort of cartridge again. This works very well imho - but as with any "cartridge" don't vape it dry.

Well...having a drip tip on a cartomizer kind of defeats the purpose. If you have to drip every 10 hits or so to keep the cartomizer wet....that is not really convenient. I can take about 80-100 hits on my penstyle with a modded cartridge and not have to top off at all. I vape the cartridge dry before having to refill.

I don't know why people are so keen on cartos....the atomizer part of the cartomizer is really cheaply made...there is absolutely no quality to it at all. The disposable part of an ecig shouldn't be the most important part....the atomizer. Rather, it should be that cartridge. The only problem is that the current cartridges are terrible. If you have cartidges that can be vaped dry consistently why is there a need for cartomizers? My ecig with the modded cartridge is way more hassle free than any cartomizer I have tried and you never have to worry about burning the cart material.

BTW...do you take your catos apart after using them?....the LR cartos are the worst when it comes to burning...be careful. The only way to not burn them is to vape very sparingly and to constantly top them off.....that is not how I vape.

I'm the complete opposite. I like the taste better with cartos, can refill them way more than twice without flavor changes, they're way more convenient and efficient as far as how well they wick, and since each one lasts me about 3-4 days they beat traditional atties (which I'd usually retire after about 2 weeks when they'd get gummed up, weak, and burnt tasting) in cost. I'm looking forward to trying the new e2 cartos, but I'm giving them a couple months to get the wrinkles ironed out, I think.

Drip tips on cartos definitely do not defeat the purpose. In fact, they serve 2. You don't have to top up all the time like with regular dripping. I drop about 20 drops in every time I refill compared to 4 with dripping and 3 with carts (since they never wick well and need to be topped up even more than direct dripping IMHO, even then, flavor leaves much to be desired compared to dripping or cartos). Also, they give a little extra distance to help keep juice from getting in your mouth.

As I said regular cartridges are terrible...you need modded cartridges to really appreciate a good atomizer. The reason you might think cartos taste better is because your cartridges get dry too fast....because of wicking issues. I can go through a whole cartridge with never having to top off.

Some people can taste and smell a carto getting funky fast and some can't... for me all cartos get funky after the first refill and get unbearably funky after the 2nd refill. Do you take your cartomizers apart after using them to see what state they are in? I have never tried a carto that didn't significantly burn the cart material. I rather smoke cigarettes than vape catos.

This ain't my first rodeo. I've tried all of the cart mods. Carts are a PITA, always. Especially fiddling with modding them. Fugghetaboutit. I'm not TOO worried about the bit of burnt stuff on the filler, but I suspect the e2 cartos will remove all worry... besides, I used to smoke cigarettes. I'll take the insignificant amount of fumes for the convenience and, IMHO, better flavor and draw.

Well that is the whole point of the Tesla....you won't have to fiddle around and make a cartridge mod and you won't have to fiddle around with cartos. To make sure your carto doen't burn you have to constantly top off. You can't put 20 drops like you said and vape away until the carto is dry. If you do that then you will burn the cart within the first 100 hits. To each his own but I suspect that you don't take your cartomizers apart after you use them. IF you use them for 3-4 days....they are completely toast. What you inhaling isn't "insignificant amount of fumes", rather you're vaping burnt cart material constantly...like I said I rather take my chances with cigarettes than the current cartos available. Anyway, to each his own.... hope either the ec2 or the Tesla will solve our ecig problems.

I completely agree with you. At first, I loved the carto's (the mega cartos are better though imo). But for some reason I couldn't phanthom, I started craving analogs again. Was it the double vapor? Was it the fuller TH? ... and then one day, while sitting in the car vaping into the sunbeams, I noticed that my vapor wasn't all dissipating. WTF? I haven't touched a carto since. Except for the new Mega Cartos ... I haven't seen any lingering clues with those as of yet. (thank goodness, because they're so handy!). HURRY UP TESLA< WE NEED YOU!!
