    Default 510 cart questions

Well, I've had my 510 for little over a week now and I freaking love this thing, unfortunately, there's a couple of issues I have.

I use tea bags to fill the carts and have been using the same cart for the last week (my boyfriend has one too and has been using his for the same length of time as well) Anyway, I examined both of these carts today and they both have little indents in them around the top. Are they freaking melting on me?

    Anyway, questions I guess

For anyone who uses a different filler- How long do you use the same cart?

And seriously, are these things melting? Because if they are, I really don't enjoy the thought of inhaling burnt plastic, I cannot imagine the health ramifications for that. Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks, I'm fairly concerned about this.

you should have no problems if you keep the cart topped off. it might get a little hot when it runs dry

I keep them topped off all the time, this is why I am wondering why my cartridge is possibly burning. I only get a burining taste when I need to top it off and then it seems to go away, I am, by the way, topping this thing off all day long. It's a liquid hog.

I'm just really concerned that I am inhaling some kind of burning plastic material into my lungs, based on the condition of the carts.

Look at the way the metal wick sites. align the cart 'flat spots' to surround the wick in 'the same direction.' Hard to explain, but easy to see..if you put the cart in so it's like an 'X' or 90* off from the way the metal wick is, it's possible it may not fit properly or put pressure on the cart edges.

Just pay attention to when vapor starts decreasing, and keep topped off. I wouldn't worry about the cart or poly burning too much, but the coil is wrapped around it's own wick as well..just keep things moist.
Current vapes: GG Transformer, PS PT, 510/Dura/Titan/Yeti, M201, Greencig G300, M401/Pilot/Evo

Can you post a pic? It's hard to tell what you are describing. If you are melting your cart you'd definitely taste it. Another person posted a pic of a cart meltdown and there was no mistaking it. Do any new unused carts have this indentation?

I don't switch carts very often, I use the same one for 4 or 5 days or more and top it off. I have a set of 6 carts that I clean and refill every two weeks or so. I'm finding that they are wearing out from use, they don't fit as tight and snug as before and are starting to leak. Time to toss these and break out a new set.

weg- I get what you mean about aligning it a certain way and actually tried that last night. I used a cart with polyfill instead of a teabag and it looked bad after one night of use. I keep it tooped off all the time, and I drip often.

Anon- I don't think I could post a picture that would actually show the damage. It just looks like little V shaped indentations. The new cart it's on two sides instead of just one. I don't think I TASTE plastic, I just get that burning taste whenever I need to top off, which could be the cart melting, but I don't know why I'd only taste it when it needs more juice.

My boyfriend says he's never had the burning taste and his cart still looks like that. It doesn't look like meliting necessarily, it looks more like some tiny little creature bit it, as the indents are V shaped and look sharp, I guess, I don't know how to descride it.

I'm just pretty concerned I'll have to ask my sister for my 901 stuff back, lol. I don't want to, I like the 510, besides the possibility that I could be inhaling melted plastic fumes regularly, and that mysterious burning taste.

i know what your talking about! my 510 does the same thing to the carts. the only thing i can think of that would be causing this is accidentally nicking it on the atomizer edge. it lines up perfectly to the notches in the cart.

I know. It looks the same on both carts. But I don't slam the cart in there, I push it in nicely, I'm gentle! So I don't imagine pushing it in with enough force to nick it really, they go in so easily.

One looks like it MIGHT be melting. I just looked really carefully.

How hot do these things burn? I never get the atomizer so hot I couldn't touch it, or even close to that hot.

Do they burn hot enough to melt the plastic?

maybe the metal ring down inside the atomizer could get hot enough to melt it but not hot to the touch on the outside? another possibility is, i have taken the cart off right after drawing to check an make sure it doesnt need to be topped off, maybe the heat made the plastic cart soft enough to make the marks from the top of the atomizer. this is the only other thing i can think of.

just like you i dont slam them either but i do hit the rim of the atomizer every now and then, BUT then again why would it be just the 1 v mark on both side of the cart? i know i have hit more then once on the edge of the atomizer and theres no way i hit in the same spot every time! confused by this.

also get that burned taste when it needs to be topped off and as soon as i do its gone

I know, I don't use it TOO heavily and I find I am topping this thing off constantly. I've never smelled burning plastic or tasted it, I don't think, but I'm really concerned that it's melting. WHY it would only melt in one or two places is also weird, not so sure about that.

But I've come to the conclusion, that, in my case, the burning taste is not burning plstic, it's burning whatever material I have in my cart as a filler, I guess, I'm not sure what else would produce this burning taste unless SOMETHING IS BURNING!!!!!!

Darn faulty technology. I love my yeti otherwise though. Of course, anything I end up enjoying thoroughly will eventually kill me.
