the tea bag doesnt melt. it is better than poly in my opinion of using them for a week now. it is a special nylon that stands up to heat. the tea bags would go into boiling water so it has to be safe for high temps.

Back to the original topic, I have 8 atomizers in service right now. The 2 oldest atomizers were purchased on 03-29-09. The newest atomizers have been in service for about a month. I have 2 atomizers that are officially dead. I have 2 atomizers that only put out about 50% of the original vapor production (meaning they are clogged up). The remaining 4 in service are rotated daily using 2 in any one day.
Soaking the atomizers in alcohol will clean them mostly but all atomizers will reach a point where the gunk on the coil is too tough to clean. I think that having only 2 dead atomizers in 5 months of use is very good.

I've been rotating two 510 attys for three months. They're both still good, and so far testing shows no increase in resistance at all.
The only maintenance I do is blow them out and stand them on their heads for a little while before I go to bed.

6 weeks and still going strong. I think they are better than 901's.. IMHO

my first 2 attys still work at their best since june and meanwhile I keep rotating with about 5 (daily change). I'm a heavy vapor. I can really tell that in my "vaping career" (9 months now!) my ohter PV's styles (pen, pipe, 901 etc.etc.) never kept mor than a few weeks max. Since 2 months I've been using 510 only. Cleaning: same procedure as "ramblingrose" posted above. (sorry for my bad english)

I started off doing the following when I started vaping back in April:
Cleaning weekly with overnight alcohol soak
Blowing atty out before bed
Rotating between two atomizers
That lasted about a month. I keep using the same one until it no longer performs and replace it. No fuss, no muss . I haven't had any short lived atty's yet and if I get a month out of one I feel like I got my moneys worth. Batteries are another story, these I haven't fared as well with. Lots of duds. But so far I'm very pleased with the new mega batts, these are a big improvement.

How about this method?
Check out the "cola-method-method-taken-another-level" string of the experiments-equipment page.
I'd post a link but can't yet.
I haven't tried it yet, but then again I have three 510 atty's 2 weeks old still going strong.
I'll start looking for "savior" methods soon I'm sure.
