Question about 510 attys
I searched the forum, but couldn't find an answer to this question.
The attys that came with my 510 lasted 2 months. They had a thin gold band where the atty meets the same thin band on the batty.
I ordered 10 bulk new attys from another vendor. They have a wide gold band where it meets the batty. These new attys produce much less vapor, and they're only lasting a few days to maybe a week, if I'm lucky.
Did I get knock-offs? Which are the "right" attys for the 510? I'm inclined to search around for the thin gold band attys and order them and keep the others for emergencies. Or maybe I just got a bad lot.
Have any of had a similar experience? Thanks for your help!

The wide band verses the narrow band is simply a cosmetic change preferred by a couple of e-cig brands. All the 510 parts are manufactured by Joye. I'm assuming the brand you got was the Titan. I'm not aware of anyone reporting so many failures on a stock 510 & those atomizers.

Thanks, a2d. Just my luck!
Maybe I'll try another batch from a different vendor and see what happens.

I wonder, though, if some atomizers I ordered a few months ago -- from a vendor who claimed they were newer designs and "heavier duty" or "longer lasting" than the "original" 510 atomizers -- were made by some third party. The reason I wondered: they did not correctly fit the Joye 510 carts I had on hand. They were slightly too large in diameter. The carts would simply fall out of the atomizers -- and those were the only atomizers I had with that problem. It was a big pain in the backside.
So I wondered if anyone was doing 510 knockoffs for a while...

There was a "new" 510 atomizer that was sold by innovapor.com using those claims. They were a knock-off and he has since stopped marketing them. They were not made by Joye.

Yes, that's who I got them from. When I wrote about the bad fit, I got a sort of vague answer that didn't address my question. Seems to me the right thing to do would have been to check out the new atomizers thoroughly and then not sell them in the first place, since pretty obviously they weren't made correctly. DUH! Ok, money lost -- but that's a (deductible!) cost of doing business! Instead, they sold 'em. Did that third party manufacturer also send cartridges that did fit? Could be, but they should have checked them against Joye cartridges. The other right thing to do would have been: sorry about the bad fit; send them back and we'll exchange them. No such offer. (Should I have insisted? Yes, of course, so I have to fault myself for not being more assertive.) It was the second time something was shipped from there that wasn't right, and the second time the response was not satisfactory. Too bad -- they're the closest vendor to where I live -- but enough was enough and fortunately there are plenty of choices (for now) out there, vendor-wise...

That's a shame that they (IV) didn't take care of you. I ordered my initial 510 kits from IV as well (and received the "new" atties) but I was prepared for the potential loose fit and ordered some 901 carts as well, which fit tighter. From what I understand, IV didn't know they were knock-offs. I don't know whether that is true or not, and to me it doesn't really matter. I actually have never tried a "genuine" 510 atty. We have been using 3 "new" atties with no problems for a month and a half now. Although I have nothing to compare them to, I actually LIKE the "new" atties. In fact, I ordered a few extras a few weeks ago and I had to specifically ask him for the new ones. He said he only had a few left and was saving them for those who asked. I'm certain they are all gone now and I asked if they planned to get anymore and the response was "no".
In preparation for the possible ban, I just ordered 10 "genuine" atties from another supplier. I probably won't even try one until the one I am using craps out, but I fear that I won't like them or that they will die earlier.
I've read some posts by people that have used both and everyone's opinion seems to vary.
