Yes, yet another helpful thread from Kristin... great for noobs to learn and vets to provide a quick link to some of the basic questions...
WOW!! Simply WOW!!
You basically summed up the ENTIRE ECF forum regarding anything and everything to do with the 510. Thank you.
Now, where were you when I was struggling with all those essays in college???![]()
Good job Kristin! I think this should be a sticky so that it can't be lost in the threads.
Kevin
Thanks guys - I hope it helps both the new members with 510's and helps give the vets a quick link to point those newbs to!
If I knew more about other models, I'd put one together for them. Unfortunately, this was pretty much the extent of all of my vaping knowledge - of course, with a shout out to all of the great folks here who helped guide ME!![]()
Kristin:
You lost me on this line:
"The diameter of 510 atomizer was recently made smaller, resulting in the older, larger cartridges not fitting properly and falling off."
I personally haven't seen this.. but it appears tome that if the diameter of the 510 atty got smaller, then the cartridges would fit tighter. Right?
And I'm not in any way saying that the following should be in your text, but here's my observation:
The quality control on most 510 components, and the ability of the manufacturer to have true consistency in their production is sorely lacking at this time. My guess would be that the majority of these components are still hand made, and as such, how they perform is all over the map.
Case in point: I have a total of 7 501 atomizers in front of me. Five are genuine Joye thin banded units and two are the wide band units that TW carries/carried. No two of these atomizers, right out of the box, perform alike. I consider two of them to be useless (one Joye and one TW). The fiberglass wick isn't installed properly and their vapor production is WAY down. If one of these had been the first atty that I had tried, I would have been terribly lost and confused.
Of the other 5, right out of the box, they are all different. They go from "cool running, easy draw vapor monsters" to "hot running, pop the vein out of your forehead, scorching throat burners". And clearly I have my favorites that I protect and coddle.
So I guess my message to the noobies is: If you have done everything else right, have tried a slow even draw, and dotted all of your i's while crossing your t's.... and your new 510 still doesn't work to your satisfaction... don't just assume that the 510 sucks and that vaping won't work or won't work for you. You may simply be one of those unfortunate souls who got some bad hardware right out of the box. Endeavor to persevere (props to Outlaw Josey Wales) and you will ultimately be rewarded with a quality vape!
I'm voting for a sticky on this one!
Stuck!!!
