OK, I tried shredded PTB in a 510 with the same atty and it appeared to work great. (Just to test, since I had some already)
For the first time my 510 is really working for me! I'm very excited!
I put another shredded PTB in a 901 cart and put it on a different 510 atty I hadn't used in some time, using only 14mg flue cured. I don't see how you get those 901 carts in a 510 atty- it was super tight! I managed to get it in there, but I don't know how I'm going to get it back out.
Anyway, I let it sit for a bit to let the atty soak stuff up, and I haven't been able to get that one to vape properly; it may be the atty, it was one of my most used 510 attys, and I abused them in newbie fashion for several weeks initially before giving up. I'll try another atty with that.
So I think that is some great progress! I'm going to try some of the suggested methods and materials to see what will work for me. I may be able to get it working with just a loose polyfill with some experimentation. Thanks for all the suggestions, and any other ideas anyone has are appreciated.
I should mention that I do already align the atty to the cart.

You might not of read it but Miketr expressed in interest in trying other cart filler materials and also not having a manual battery. Thought i'd offer some suggestions.

Thanks for moving this, I didn't make the connection between "new member" and the 15 posts rule in regard to the forum. I was thinking more along the lines of perceiving myself to still be an inexperienced vaper.
I wonder if you could set up rules that would automatically enforce this since it seems to keep being a problem? Just a thought.

hehe. Ya dont use a brush. You soak it in a small cup with the mouthwash for 15 mins while shaking it a little. Then rinse it out good with water. Then put it back in a small cup of water and soak it over night to clean out the mouthwash. Then in the morning, take it out and blow it out good and let it air dry for about 7 hours or so. It should be good and all clean.

If you don't want to watch them dry for 7 hours... I put them in the oven on 150 (no higher) for about ten minutes then set on the counter for another 10 min. By the time they are back to room temp they will be dry.

Yeah... and if you're gonna recommend a batt mod, I vote for the Chuck. Best out there (period). (vape 3-4 days on one batt)

There have been many threads addressing these issues over the past 6 months or so.
One point of interest is the vapor draw of the 510. The 510 is a high performance PV. The atty runs hotter than the 901 and it consumes a lot more juice than most. You have to keep the cart topped off to keep the vapor production at peak performance. Trying to vape the last drop out of the cart just isn't going to happen unless you are satisfied with weak harsh tasting vapor. I normally will top off when the cart drops low enough to hold 6 drops with a top off. Sure, I could drop the cart level lower but why? I don't like the taste of a lean cart. The best vaping are the first 5 or 6 draws. After that the quality of the draw gets worse. So why not top off as necessary to keep the best performance.
I use the stock cart filler, I've tried them all and the stock is the best for me. It never wears out and you don't remove the filler very often, which I don't, you do not lose the half cart of juice left over. Here is a link to the straw mod I use;

The best thing I have used to clean the attys is rubbing alcohol. The mouth wash you guys are talking about contains alcohol. Some use pure grain alcohol. I only use that if the rubbing alcohol doesn't work. You will need to be careful using alcohol because if you have a cut or scratch on the painted shell of the atty the paint will come off.
Eventually the atomizers will clog with carbon and will stop working. There is no avoiding this fact. I average 1 to 2 months on an atty before retiring it. I have been using the 510 exclusively since March and have been very satisfied. I have used it at 3.7, 5.0 , 6.0 volts. The 510 is the best all around IMHO.

Actually... the Crest doesn't contain any alcohol at all. Go figure.
