    Default Charger Killing Batteries??

Has anyone had a charger that killed their 510 batteries?

I had 3 perfectly good batteries just die on me now and I now suspect its the charger!!

    Is this possible?

    New, working fine yesterday.

I had bought a new PCC and some new batteries, because they were suddenly dying on me A LOT. I was using a charger that came with my old OMG kits, (rebranded kits bought at a fair booth) because I couldn't find the one that came with my 510. I finally found it and it's IDENTICAL to the 510 charger.

So, I've been charging this battery in the 510 charger for a couple of days - no problems. Last night, I wanted to charge 2 batteries at once, so I used the OMG charger. I noticed that when I screwed it in, it didn't do the usual LED blinking. So I unscrewed it again and it blinked. So, thought it was OK.

Well, this morning it is dead, dead, dead. No sign of life. I put it into the 510 charger instead and no signs of life there either. This is exactly what happened to my other batteries. (That charger is in the garbage now, because I can't believe it's not the cause anymore!)

My question is, can something that is supposed to charge somehthing actually do the reverse and completely drain it instead? Or is it maybe breaking it somehow? I check the back label and it is identical voltage etc to the 510 charger, so I know it wasn't TOO much power.

I just don't get why it seems this charger has killed 3-4 perfectly good, newer batteries now??

I am hoping that your charger didn't actually kill your batteries... perhaps just stunned or annoyed them.

The protection circuitry in your 510 batteries should.. to some extent.. protect them from being completely destroyed by the charger. It doesn't necessarily stop them from getting injured though.

Take those three batteries and set them aside for a bit. Allow them to internally stabilize... and then put them back on a known good 510 charger (USB or plug-in.. makes no difference). See if they respond to the TLC.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. The new one that was "stunned" was on the good charger for the past few hours and hasn't shown any sign of life. I'll put them aside for now.

    Thanks Scottbee

Kirsten I just had a simular experience with my 510 manual switch batt. What I did was attach it to a charger that I thought belonged to the 510 ( I've bought so many kits that I've lost track of what goes with what). Any way this USB charger belonged to a super mini but the 510 screwed right in. Same thing as you indicate no flash, then one flash, left it charging for hours, then never worked again.

What I think may have happened is that the charger is set up in reverse polarity from the 510 charger. Both batts are the same voltage and I would expect the 510 to be tougher than a super mini.

I plan to check the polarity on both chargers with a meter tomorrow and will let you know what I find. Not sure what that will do to fix our problem but it will at the least tell us what not to do in the future (mix chargers and batts).

I too am having 510 battery problems

i bought the 5 battery charger from TW...and i think it ruined 3 brand new batteries and a mega battery. They go on just fine...They charge just fine...They even light up off the atty like they will work. but the minute i put them on the atty they do a sad little blink like they are not connecting properly. I cleaned them with alcohol and everything. i know its not the atty because the atty works just fine with other batteries. It kind of pissed me off...the 5 battery charger is a piece of crap and killed a total of 4 brand new batteries. Thanks TW for the defective crap

Chances are that the charger is pushing the middle connector to the batteries down too far so that it is not making good contact with the atomizers. You can fix this by either putting the end of a straightened paperclip into the battery's middle hole in the connector end and pulling it forward slightly (and carefully). Once it makes contact, it should work fine.

BTW, the charger may also be fine, and you may simply be tightening the batteries too much onto the charger, hence, pushing the middle of the batteries in too far. If so, don't screw them on so tightly.

If the paperclip trick doesn't work, you can use the staple solution. It can be found here:

    PLEASE! help with my batteries!!!

    Good luck.

Kristen, please see the reply I wrote for SusanB in the post above this one for ways to fix your problem. Try the paperclip way of adjusting your batteries. If that doesn't work, try the staple solution by following this link:

    WOW THANKS BITEY!!!

I will try that tonight...i was so bummed out about those batteries , especially because i heard such great things about the mega batteries lasting 4 hrs.

i did think that perhaps i was screwing them on to the charger to tight or to loose...but i tried them at various levels of tightness and the result was always the same....but perhaps they are not charging properly at all.

Ill try the paperclip trick and hopefully be able to use the batteries

    Much appreciated!

Definitely would like to know what you find out. It'd be great to figure out a way to revive those batteries, too!!
