    Default Joye 510 Mega atty/Batt - good/bad?

( the search feature here is not my friend, so sorry if already discussed)

Was looking on Heavens Gift site and was wondering if there are any reviews here on the mega attys and batts and how well they work.
I'm having enough issues with the regular 510 attys and don't need mega issues with a mega atty.
Any positive reviews or point me to a thread already in progress?

    thanks

I use the Mega atomizers and carts. I bought them from Totally Wicked. They sell the atomizers for $8.99 if you buy the 5 pack. That's cheaper than Heaven Gifts. So far I like the mega attys because the cart will hold around 25 drops of juice if you use the Fluval foam mod. I can usually get a few hours out of a cart before I need to refill it. The attys perform just like the smaller 510 attys. I can't say if they last longer or not because I've only been using them for a week so far.

Can someone explain mega attys to me? I know they are longer than standard attys, but are they also wider?

First of all, a mega atty is not the same as a high-voltage atty, right? (I didn't think so, but it seems some people have that impression ^^^) So do a mega atty and a standard atty have the same internals and resistance?

Then what's the purpose of having a longer atty? I understand why a mega cart is desirable - that's easy, you can hold more liquid. And I understand that mega-attys require mega-carts, I just don't understand why mega-attys exist in the first place. Why can't they just make a mega-cart that fits a standard atty? I'll be upset to find out that they could have done this, but didn't because they could make more money off mega attys/carts than they could off just mega carts...

Someone solve this mega-mystery for me!

The mega attys are exactly the same as the regular 510 attys but longer. You need the longer atty to accept the longer carts. The regular 510 carts won't work on the mega atty and the mega carts won't work on a regular 510 atty. On the mega cart the part the fits inside the atty is longer. That's why they won't work on a regular 510 atty.
The mega attys are not high voltage. The only reason you would want to use them is for the longer mega cart.

Thanks for the response. That's what I was suspecting - there's really no good reason that they couldn't have just made mega carts that fit standard attys. More money to be made with mega-atty/mega-cart combos.

901 carts fit 510 attys, right? Do they have additional liquid capacity, or is it just the different mouthpiece shape and material that people that do this prefer?

I never tried 901 carts but I've read they fit a regular 510 atty. I'm not sure if a bigger cart could be made to fit the regular 510 atty and work well. My guess is they did some R&D on it and discovered a longer cart works better on a longer atty.
The Mega carts hold almost as much juice as a 801 cart. I like them because I hated how the regular carts didn't last long before they needed refilling. In fact I switched to 801 for the longer lasting carts. I switched back to 510 when the mega carts and atty came out.

As a side note: I use the Mega atty and cart on a VP2, so I have no experience with the Mega batteries.

I use the 510 mega batts from TW. They last just less than 2x a regular batt. I'm using them with 510 reg attys and carts, not mega attys and carts. The mega batts are about 60% longer than reg batts. I like the mega batts, but they do make the PV considerably longer.

It sounds like the mega carts are what I thought they would be: about 20% more juice than the reg cart, and that's all they do extra. For now it doesn't seem worth the extra expense. I use ZFM cart mod (auto-drip) so I get 50-60 hits before needing the refill. For me using mega for all 3 pieces would be a PV that was too long.

mega attie cart combo is about 8mm longer than the std.
the "longer" bit is the thin bit of the cart hence the attie has to be longer to accept it.
the idea is you fill the base of the cart with liquid and all the wadding is in the extended thin bit of the cart.
    I personaly don't rate it.

I understand that the mega-cart (as designed) requires the longer atty, but IMO there's no good (for us) reason for this. They could have just left the part of the cart that enters the (standard) atty the same and lengthened the other end of the reservoir - resulting in a longer cart when installed in the atty.

It's my belief they decided they could make more money by selling (and charging more for) mega-attys & mega-carts, than they could by selling just mega-carts. Specially because attys have limited-life expectancy and would require regular purchases of the more expensive part. Carts could theoretically last forever, and are much cheaper than attys to begin with, so they couldn't be marked-up as much. There just wouldn't have been as much extra money for them if they had designed the mega-carts sensibly.

Hopefully one of the clone makers will see the opportunity and just make a mega-cart. I would pay a lot more for sensibly designed mega-carts than regular carts. But I would NOT even pay a little more for a non-sensibly designed mega-atty than I would a regular atty.

Also, other than the fact that I don't like their method of making more money, the last thing I want is MORE plastic inserted into a hot atty for no good (for us) reason.
