I agree Keyzygirl, I get plenty of vapor also so it is the perfect set up for me too. Nothing beats it for ease of use and refilling carts makes it less costly. The variety of flavors is great, something for everyone.

I just got my first KR today.
ive tried 4 different carto's. virginia, cool, nuport, and caramel, all have about 1/2 the output that the video in this thread show.
My evolution as been from an rn4081 to a 510 to a VK.
I will admit that when i first popped on one of the menthol cartos, i was taken back at how strong and clear the flavor was. but the vapor output is dismal.
I was hoping it was just me or my technique. but it's not looking that way.
im fine with the reduced vapor output as long as im still getting the nicotine i need to make it through the day. but as one of the "signs" being gone, i wonder if im getting it.

Do these have a break-in period like normal attys do?

Yes i have found they have a break in, about half-way or so through the cart it picks up to a fog machine (on all the flavors ive tryed anyway) it then keeps the performance untill it dies. I was disapointed with my 808 the first few hours, the 510 was much better, then the carto got going and all i can say is OMG, vapor hit and flavor the make the 510 look like a little toy!

Ok - so I have to revise my original opinion about vapor on my KR808D being dismal or nonexistant. I started to get that awful burnt taste on my 510 - so I switched to my KR808D for all of yesterday while I soaked my 510 atty.

After vaping on the KR exclusively for a full day - vapor production more than doubled by last night. I think Dale s. is absolutely right in that there is some kind of break in period needed for the cartomizers. Until yesterday, I'd only vaped in small spurts on the KR808D and never for a full day. I don't think there's quite as much vapor as my 510, but it's pretty close.

Also...I have to admit that in terms of flavor, my KR808D blows the 510 away for me. I threw a fresh atty on my 510 this morning and after vaping for awhile to break in the new atty - I still found myself wanting to reach for the KR808D again because it tastes so much nicer.

So, in summary, I'm liking it far better than I did a couple of days ago . The trick for me seemed to be:

    - Screwing the atomizer tightly onto the battery. It doesn't seem to make a difference in vapor production if I tighten it a bit past the battery hole or not. Though I notice an easier draw if I line up with the whole.

    - Take *very* gentle, slow and deep draws (slow enough that I can hear a little 'sizzle' as I draw). This was awkward initially, but I got used to it by the end of the day so it was less of a conscious effort.

    - Break in the cartomizer for about a day to achieve good vapor production

    - Keep the cartomizer topped off. I notice less vapor for awhile if I overfill and, of course, if I run it too dry. A nice wet batting without noticeable juice pools around the edges seem to be perfect.

The bulky form factor is still a big negative for me...but I'm hoping 901 whistle tips other people have suggested will take care of that.

Glad you were able to give it another try. I take it you have the auto batteries? I think the manuals work much better...

I'm with you on that one!

    Northwoods resident, huh?
Yeah, as you have found out, it seems as if carts need some breaking in time before their maximum potential is reached, but you seem to have found the KR808D technique that works for you. Once you know that the occational initial lack of vapor is temporary, you are good to go!
And I echo JenJen's statement - if you don't have a manual, get one; preferably an extra long batt - it does make a noticable difference! Better hits, and more vapor - not to mention, longer lasting!

Same with me I get lots of vapor esp on my green battery from V4L maybe it is your battery or batteries I havent tried the manual yet only the auto. I heard the manual gets great vapor but I really prefer the auto over the manual.

Another one here who is underwhelmed with the cartomizer vapour production. Although I've only used blanks that I filled myself. Now the KR808D-1 battery is another matter - this thing is a powerhouse, and it with a 901 atomizer gives me the most vapour I've ever had. But I get better vapour from my Mseries with a good atomizer than these cartomizers. I still haven't tried a 510; I hate manual batteries.
