Question Cleaning & refilling question- again>>>>

    A different question here...
I am looking at the different characteristics that comes w/ using a KR808-1 and need help.
My Dad just received a Puresmoker Ace and I want to help him w/ refilling which I had seen info on in the past- no prob, I can do that and show him how- BUT, if he wants to change flavor (He is loving my Redhots flavor) - I have seen how to clean the cartomizer out by flushing hot water through it...

A question on, does the water flushing through not affect the atty performance at all?

Does the cartomizer HAVE to be completely dried after the flushing before refilling? Can it be damp? or after flushing and blowing a few times - has anyone refiilled right away and still gotten full flavor, full vape, full TH? or if you did refill right away does it need a few primer puffs to get it going good and a tad flavor drop off?

    Thx for any help!

Whew--so many options, don't know where to begin.

I've done several methods advocated around the forums:
    1. rinsing, blow out, refill immediately, vape
    2. rinsing, blow out, refill, let soak in, vape
    3. rinsing, blow out, refill immediately, Taryn's "centrifuge" (spinning the carto in a bag/V4L battery sleeve batt side down, with the caps on), vape
    4. To be tested: rinsing blow out, let dry, refill/vape or refill/spin/vape or refill/wait/vape (cartos are still drying out right now, plus I'm waiting on some new ejuice I want to try)

In general, they all worked fine--other than when I accidentally overfill them, I got the same vapor, flavor and throat hit as an out-of-the-box carto.

I've found which one works best depends on a couple of variables:
    - the age of carto/number of refill cycles it's been through
    - e-juice: VG, PG, VG/PG mix

Again, in general you can never go wrong with refilling them and waiting anywhere from 15 minutes to overnight to let the juice soak all the way to the core for best performance.

However, the oft-rinsed/refilled ones definitely benefit from this, as they seem to get a little denser and need that extra time (or the spin trick) to get the juice evenly distributed.

Also, I've found some e-juices are thicker than others and MUST either spin and/or wait to get them to vape correctly after refilling.

I can tell if I've been too impatient and try to vape too soon if I get little vapor/flavor even though I know the carto is full--a sure sign it hasn't reached the actual atomizing core of the carto. I think I read somewhere that if you still get throat hit, but no vapor, it could be that the juice hasn't fully saturated the carto so only some of the elements of the juice are being atomized. If waiting still doesn't provide adequate results, it could be a sign that carto is finished and relegated to the carto graveyard.

I don't clean mine; I draw the line at refilling for convenience sake. It doesn't really taste that bad to mix liquids... Putting RY4 into watermelon or grape into chocolate carts hasn't yielded any horrible results yet lol

i rinse/blow/whip & then vape right away, i do not spin the cart...when blowing only gets a drop or so out of the battery end, then maybe blow a couple more times...then i start dripping, i whip it after every dozen drops or so...the filler looks like it won't hold more, but whipping or spinning will let u saturate & fill it all the way without the wait...i can fill about 25-35 drops...with the rubber plug & caps on, holding the cartomizer from the mouth end, i whip it down...whipping it down forces the juice down to the bottom to saturate just as good as the spinning method, though i have not tried the spinning method...vapes fine right away...

sometimes i just add a new flavor without rinsing,etc...unlike atomizers, previous flavors do not stay or mix bad on the cartomizers for long...

edit/update: or u could just get some blank cartomizers, so u can refill without the rinse more often...

Thx! This is helping- I am going back over to my Dad's today and plan to help him refill one- showing him and try to give him tips on how he will know when he should refill another. Also, limited refills before he will actually need to buy others. Steve sent him quite a few cards as well. Good deal since he was asking me where he could buy them. LOL I told him, "Dad- the company that sent that to you has everything you need!" He does like my Redhots though so I will see if PS has cinnamon, redhot type cartos or find a source where he can get that flavor. He said he can feel the hit like a cigarette hit from that flavor that the others don't provide.
    Thx again!

If he is going to refill with the same flavor,he could take this useful tip from another forum member. Use the rubber cap that comes on the cartomizer and cut a small hole in the top. Remove the white cap and o ring, replace with the rubber cap. Just drip into the filler when you start to lose taste. I can get 10-12 drops in without washing or spinning and it is much more convenient than taking off the white cap and oring everytime it needs filled. When it starts losing it's punch, throw it away and go to a new cartomizer.

    Hope this makes sense.

I do this too, for vaping at home--real easy to keep it flavorful. Haven't tossed one yet!

Just got mine today from Good Prophets, and did not really like the mouth piece, felt like I'm sucking on a giant straw. I generally used a 401 and a 510 with a whistle tip. Went scrounging threw my sons old vx2 that died on him, and disovered the whistle tips will fit perectly. Makes it real easy to fill too. I do replace the little rubber washer and push the tip in and it fits perfectly and I don't get any liquid in my mouth. Using an adapter that I also got from Good Prophets for my 510 pt, and it works great!! Seems like I can vape forever lol!
