Just got a provari but like my LT better

Provari menu setup is just fine for me. I like it allot, although I can see the advantage of a two button design. Also the Lava Tube/ Vector Varible Volt is allot lighter which can be a positive.

Over all, I still use my Provari more often then any of my PV's. I would not recommend a change in design functionality!

Although perhaps not quite "objective," I think most people would agree that the three-button implementation of the user interface used on the Vtube (especially the Young-June versions) is more ergonomic and user-friendly than the single-button menu system of the ProVari. The ability to check atty/carto resistance, voltage setting, and battery-remaining graphic all together with a single click of the power button on the Young-June Vtube is much easier and more elegant than the multiple-click-and-wait routines used by the ProVari.

How important that feature is varies from person to person. Some don't care at all and love the ProVari for its heft, what-you-set-is-what-you-get voltage, build quality, and warranty service. For other people, the user interface is an important consideration and may affect their buying decision. Different strokes for different folks.

That was one of the reasons I didn't order a ProVari until this week. The $40 off chrome blem ProVari clearance sale finally got me to pull the trigger. Soon I'll have a ProVari to go with my BuzzPro and iPro; Vmax v2; Ovale V8; Vector VV, Varitube X, and Chrome v2.0 Young June Vtubes; four eGo Twists; and 13 other plastic or wood VV box mods.

Oh boy, I'll be qualified at last to join in the melee on all the ProVari versus Everything Else thread wars! LOL.

I love my chrome LT v2 and my Provari. Admittedly I use the v2 more since this version maintains the output levels just like my Provari. This is only due to the fact that its lighter and cheaper. I feel/know that my Provari (if subjected to equal abuse) would outlast the LT. Even if it were to become inoperable, i know that provape can get her back up and running. Performance is quickly becoming a level playing field. The Provari still holds the edge (and probably always will) in quality, materials, longevity, and service. It's possible that Provape will come out with a model that addresses the UI, but it's not really a big deal if they don't. Less buttons technically means less that can fail over its lifespan.

On the issue of battling over which is the greatest....what real reason is there for all the passion? They are just PVs after all.

I'm with the OP. The Provari is probably the highest quality device out there, but for the price, would it be that hard to simply include dedicated V + and - buttons?

Own both, and also have to agree. As nice as the Provari is, the menu system is cheesey.

The most simplest of designs like an iphone even have volume buttons, imagine pushing the button several times on your phone to bring the volume up or down. Seeing youtube videos of people doing this made me cringe and made go with a lavatube, so what if it won't last a lifetime. I don't mind buying the version 2 just based on the low price point and ease of use.

I own both a SS Vtube and satin black Provari. While the Vtube is easier to adjust, I got used to the Provari in a few minutes. Provari is my main while the Vtube is my secondary/backup. Not sure if its the smaller battery or amp limit but the Provari vapes nicer for me. Plus I like the button placement on the Provari more than the Vtube.

It would be funny if there were an analogs forum where smokers could debate the merits and demerits of various cigarette brands. You know, 100s vs. regulars, low tar against full flavor, soft pack vs. box. We never thought of these things when we were real tobacco users - just smoked what we liked and stayed loyal to the brand forever.

Did anyone have a multi-make cigarette collection? Not so much, I think...

Well, I used to like my YJ V2. It finally dropped dead on me this morning. Not quite the overall lifespan I had been hoping for but it did work well for the months I had it. Quite a few friends had bought them as well.

Problems encountered so far:

Odd thread issues- Some atty/carto/tanks would fit, some wouldn't. Mine took the Vivi tank without an issue, others wouldn't. Mine was a tad picky on DCT cartos.

Fire button finicky- Sometimes it wouldn't fire when pressed. Contact cleaner fixed the issue on some, sometimes not.

Really sensitive to overtightening- Any attachment with a deep protruding center-post would short out causing the screen to flash. The flimsy/thin center post insulator is to blame here. I replaced mine with a heavier insulator from an old adapter. A few minutes of fiddling and soldering worked well.

....and then my current issue:

Everything looks fine, batteries test out ok. Pulled center post and the connection is still fine. No damage to the board that I can see. Switch tests ok. Nothing on the display (doesn't light up). Just dead.

I never expected it to outlast my Provari. I didn't anticipate having to fiddle with and fix it as often as I did. For what I paid for it, it wasn't bad. I had hoped it would have lasted longer though.

I do feel bad about one thing though. Quite a few friends bought one thinking that they would be a nicer device. Every last one has had issues with them. About half of them are still in service, the others have been deadlined due to excessive malfunctions. Two friends have bought Provari's to fill the gap, and almost everyone else is considering it. Only two continue to use theirs without any issues so far.

I think that, if YJ ups their quality control, the device is still an acceptable choice. First runs almost always have issues.
