The Australian ban
Australia banned e-cigs on Jan. 1 of this year, but I for one thought the ban was on sale and importation. Not so, apparently, as this new quote from an Australian in the social group subforum makes clear:
"An E cigarette is at present a regulated poison in Qld and is a breach of the H(D&P)R to obtain, possess, use, sell etc. An inspector under the Act/Regulation has the authority to investigate a person who
may be in possession of an E cigarette and seize same. Legal proceedings may also be instituted."
This is first instance I can recall of a major country banning possession of an e-cig. A very bad omen for other countries considering or implementing bans. No possession. No use. A totally outlawed device.
Australians, chime in here about how things are going Down Under. We need to get this topic out of social groups and into areas read in the U.S., Canada and U.K.

This is very interesting and I definitely would like to hear more, but it does not affect Canada. Health Canada was very clear on their stance. They may have pushed the supply chain back a bit, but they are simply asking for their regulatory rights to nicotine, which they have by law. Nothing different than the US FDA seeking to have control over those suppliers who wish to make claims regarding health and quitting, as they have jurisdiction over such products.
And I might be wrong, so if someone can guide me properly, then please do so, but the UK has also allowed the e-cig to slip through poison regulations and as long as it is not marketed with health claims and has proper packaging it is good to go.
If anything, this would have more to do with Mexico and conundrum in the US. Personally though, I think the US will fall more in line with Canada and the UK than with Mexico and Australia (no offense to any of our members here in either country).

I'd still like to know how they are managing.

We have quite a few Aussie members and I'm hoping they will let us know how they're coping.
