I was looking at the FDA website and saw this bulletin update: IMPORT ALERT IA6641

It's dates 5/0707, but is updated. Near the bottom are 3 E-Cig companies in China that have been added to the DWPE list. One in March and two in April this year. Just search for "cigarette" in the body.

Companies include:
Shenzhen Kanger Technology Co Lt
Desonic Industrial
Loong Totem Science & Technology

I wonder when the rest of the companies will be added?

The FDA has no doubt been working on this for many months. And just look at that list of the imported crap that floods our country! That's a busy agency, chasing down all those Chinese Cialis clones.

When the FDA reviews electronic cigarettes and components, and posts the findings, it will have screen grabs of Web sites making unprovable health claims and "quit smoking" claims. Heck, they're still out there! I saw one on a Ruyan sales site today.

An e-smoking list should be something to behold: A list not only of the Chinese connections, but all the sellers in America, told they now have an illegal product in stock. If all the panicked rumblings elsewhere on the forum are correct, a new "alert" might be added very soon. I dread the day, to tell you the truth, even though I've seen it coming for a long time.

One thing you have to remember...

If you keep buying the overinflated priced products without those studies/proof... They will never have any intentions of getting those studies/proof. Why would they spend more money, to make less?

I believe it is also part of the marketing strategy also... Where else can you get free advertising like this. (Suppose they did have the studies and proof in hand, and just withheld it, so as to cause a mini-panic among the activists. Though I do realize that is not the case.)

In large-scale marketing, it would cost billions for this level of exposure. Even if they get shut-down, they have already made that, free of charge, from the sale of over-priced items to the stores, private investors, and sales-reps. They don't' care if one single customer buys the item, they only have to convince sellers that customers want to buy it, and are willing to pay that price.

Come-on, I paid $150.00 for an x-box 360, shipped... and it has 8,000 times the circuitry and craftsmanship and material inside. It even came with two high quality Lithium ion batteries that were brand new, and does not require the additional purchase of parts every month, and year. (Talking about the atomizer life expectancy and battery life expectancy with these chargers.)

I am not knocking any brand or price, just sizing up the way a majority of people think. Everyone knows a novelty when they see one. Novelties have little information, lots of false information, unrealistic claims, unregulated production, offer drop-shipping, show MSRP which is obviously 10x the value as opposed to 2x the value, and have disposable companies which all have relabeled products made by one or two manufactures.

Where is this taking us? It is taking us into a true consumer level for these products. Now, the novelty is over, and they have customer expectations to meet, laws to follow, and responsibility and obligation to their largest sellers.

We, the customers, as well as the sales representatives, need to contact the companies and make the demands. We are the ones in control now. We are the majority. We are their future funding.

They are only 100 voices to the company, and companies don't like to listen to sellers alone, however, they can't cover their ears from the 100,000 voices from each of the 1,000 customers that each of the 100 sellers has. I'm sorry, what's the population of the US? I see the figure of 1,000,000,000 but I thought it was more like 306,247,122.
China isn't the only country capable of manufacturing these products, we just use them because they are cheap, as they employ extremely low priced labour. Many of us are protected by legislation that guarantees a minimum wage but they are not. How much would production costs be in the US, or any other western country? As the loopholes close on 'unapproved' Chinese imports they will either have to meet regulations or turn to the next big thing, which will lead to alternative sources of production and increased prices. If you want products that are reliable, tested and safe then you will have to pay for the privilege.
Before you remind me that they are already overpriced, who is making the profit, the factory owners, the exporters, the importers, the resellers? US prices often seem to be more than European prices but why?

Please people, you are still going to get your personal needs from China no matter what happens. Even if they are banned, the Chinese are going to have no problem continuing to ship you your goods. They may have some size and weight limits, but in general your 7x7" box of juice and atomizers if going to sail right thru.

The US suppliers that wish to make a business out of this will be out of luck.

Actually quite a bit of product is getting through. If you do a search for e-cigarettes on the FDA website, it will give you a list of what got refused, why and when etc.

Yes some stuff will always get through. However, as more customs agents become aware of e-cig and juice its only going to get worse. Once they have all the makers and importers blacklisted it will get worse. Your going to be forced to by from 'fly by night' Chinese sources which may just simply rip you off, and even if they do ship your package there will be a good chance that customs gets it.

Quality control of juice will get worse: the chances that you are getting e-juice with lead or antifreeze will go up.

Absolutely true. On the site where the FDA lists banned products, including the makers of three electronic cigarettes, an early paragraph notes that erroneous information has been published that it would somehow be legal for an individual to order the products. Wrong, wrong, wrong. If a ban is for sale and import, it will NOT allow direct ordering from China, whether to my home or the White House. And when enforcement is ordered, it will be as Boston George suggests -- a long list of suppliers and invoice liars whose imports will be under the microscope.

If e-smoking is forced to be a black market activity, it will be dead for 99% of the population, including me. It needs a mass market. It needs to remain legal.
