Radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer in non smokers, but how much do we hear about radon gas? Tax smokers take their rights away. I also find it strange that bars that are serving a toxic liquid that leads to many social problems can not let people smoke because the smoke may cancer.
I only vape too, but you'd be surprised at how many places that are non smoking will not allow vaping either!

The sorriest thing of all...vaping gets the nic for our juice from...where? That's right, tobacco. Lets shoot the corpse of the tobacco industry again.

Hey Queen,
If your bars are "private," like most in WS, then they will be able to skirt this ban. The ban does not apply to private clubs (i.e., country clubs will be able to still maintain cigar bars).
Here is a small part of an e-mail I received that might help:
"The legislation prohibits smoking in all enclosed areas of restaurants and bars throughout the state. Cigar bars and private clubs (nonprofit clubs such as the VFWs or country clubs) are exempt from the prohibition."
So, hopefully, the bars in your area will become private in an attempt to get around this ban.
Take care.

I notice your avatar. I live in Concord, home of Lowe's Motor Speedway...That's right, where the Coca-Cola 600 is next week. It is also the home of (for a couple of more months while they close it down) the largest cigarette factory. They drove the Phillip Morris people to shut down our plant and transfer all operations to Richmond. Talk about absolutely STUPID.

The only problem with that (I have a friend who owns a bar) is that the NC ABC has different laws that the owners have to bow down and kiss their a** to meet to go private. They get you coming and going.

Already doing that in Winston. Trying to get a group of heavy smokers to try it. I already have at least five and am working on more. I have a meeting place that can be used - free of charge. It would be nice if NC suppliers could come and help with the education part. If you or anyone knows of an interested supplier - please PM and let me know.

Don't they have to comply with the same ABC rules, in order to sell iquor? We have a friend, whose dad was the former DA here, and he owns a bar and they had to be private to sell liquor - or at least that is what I understood him to say. Can you clarify for me?
Many thanks.

It is just that they have more restrictive laws regarding alcohol sales in private clubs than in public..I know it is hard to believe, but yes, even MORE restrictive. I don't know all the specifics, but my friend is having headaches seeing if he can comply. It also has to do with local zoning ordinances. Not all bars zoning would allow it to go private. Silly stuff.
