This is what worries me. I wish there was a reliable home-made assay method.

Also, people, if you're messing around with tobacco extracts please wear gloves and be careful. Essentially treat the stuff as if it was sulphuric acid

There is a spreadsheet floating around on the board somewhere than can give you an estimate of nic levels. I think if you stick to small quantities of tobacco and use proper care and attention to handling it, you are fairly safe. Perhaps one of the other posters can remember where the spreadsheet is

We are dealing with poison here, we really need a home test, maybe some kind of device or a quimical substance, just think about it, you could buy any type of e-liquid or DIY safer because you can test the nicotine concentration in it.

Someone needs to invent this device, he/she's gonna be millionar, how hard it could be? now they sell home test even for AIDS...

Don't think there will be too many people interested, how many people make their own juice? Even if the juice is banned I don't see there being a market for it. The best we can do is to do the calculations and try not to drink the stuff or have a bath in it!

Well the potential buyers are people who buy e-liquid or provide e-liquid not labeled, not tested, without any ingredient ditails on it, not FDA aproved and are concerned about inhaling poison made in china.

I don't see how you can have a home test that will give you a complete breakdown of ingredients. I do think that suppliers show be arranging tests on the liquid, Janty and TW have made a start, but unless you want a gas chromatograph in your house, our fate is in the hands of others.

I think it is very possible that there could be contamination of juice, but since very few people in the West make it, there is little we can do.

What about cafeine?? what happend if you inhale it? is it as estimulating as nicotine? someone knows anything about inhaling cafeine? there are some similitudes between nicotine and cafeine as estimulants but maybe the cafeine is not poisoning when inhaling, just a crazy thoug...

If we can get some "nicotine fix" with cafeine we can use it because it is'nt so regulated and banned as nicotine is.

That's one of the problems with e-cigs, we are all guinea pigs. We are hoping it is healthier than tobacco, most of us believe that on the balance of probabilities it is far healthier, but we don't know...

If we could get our fix with caffeine it would probably be better still but until the tests are done, who knows?

All I can say is, I feel so much better since I stopped smoking, I'm going to risk it. In a few years time and my extremities have fallen off, I'll have been wrong

Yeah, i can see your point, and i think is valid, from my point of view i don't wanna risk my extremities lol, also at the start of this topic dablackanarch ask for any kind of ideas, thats why i'm trying to be really creative on my thougs and think out of the box, just wondering: what happens if you touch pure nicotine? and what happens if you touch pure cafeine? maybe someone with the knowledge could obtein some cafeine and vap it to see what happens :P

It will be great if we can do any DIY with VG and cafeine i don't have access to the ingredients cause i'm in a really little town somewhere in Mexico so is dificult to buy this kind of wierd flavors and subtances like VG or PG.

I wonder as well whether caffeine could be vaped, but you'd have to be very careful with the dosage as well. Sometimes I get heart flutters from 1 cup of coffee

However, caffeine wouldn't take care of nicotine cravings.
