All these places are over 18/21 only, so the worry of children buying them is practically zero. Even if they sold the disposable ones, it would be a foot in.
That's one of the best suggestions I've heard. Unfortunately, this is exactly the sort of thing that would work in Australia. Especially on a state level (which is where the nicotine is banned). By 'unfortunately', I mean it's unfortunate that the states are influenced so heavily by the gambling industry, but we might as well use that to our advantage.

It is a bit sad, but it came to mind....a friend of mine was running a Pub in Toowoomba when the smoking ban came into effect. Over the first 6 months he said they had around a 35-40% downturn in the public bar. That is a pretty big hole in anyone's language.

I am pretty sure there were reports generated by various pubs, clubs, organisations etc stating the amount their businesses had gone/would go down due to the ban prior to and for a while after the ban went into effect....I am sure it would be around somewhere on the net.

There is many angles for the health thing also...such as pointing out what a HUGE burden smokers put on the health system as per the governments own census info...or that on the cancer council site...even if they did NOT tax e-cigs, they (Govt) would be in the black by BILLIONS of $ per year just in reduced demand on healthcare facilities.

I know you probably all know this stuff anyway, but thanks for letting me vent

Check out the cancer council site and the census site....(would not let me post the addys because I am a newbie here lol)

Some interesting stats on those sites regarding costs, savings, how many, how much etc....

Couldn't find the edit button....sorry for the double post.

Interesting thing too is that there is plenty of info on smoking related deaths, but pretty much zero on purely nicotene related deaths....funny that...

A little help please? I'm coming to Oz in about a month from the US for a 2 week Holiday. I bought a 'personal vaporizer' specifically for the 14 hour plane flight.

After reading most of this thread, I'm a bit concerned that my equipment may be confiscated at customs! Has there been any news stories about that happening???

As far as I know, customs at Australian airports don't have the facilities to test if a substance contains nicotine, so methinks you should be ok. If they ask you what it is, tell them it's just PG/flavouring.

You might have better luck with ACSH. They are pro reduced risk and have the medical resources to investigate pertinent issues. I believe they are referenced as: Dr. Whelan and her Council of 380 scientists. Loads of Antis there, just not as rabid.

I thought it might be of interest to my fellow Aussies what happened to me today...

As a e-cig Newbie, I had ordered a couple of 901's, fixings, and 5 x 20ml bottles of 18mg e-juice from eastmall in China.

Needless to say, I was concerned about doing my dosh.

My package arrived today, with a note inside from Australian Customs stating "Opened for Inspection," and "No items have been removed by Customs."

They had a good "sticky beak' with obvious plastics and cardboard opening/tampering.

Don't know if the Customs agent was a sympathetic smoker, was instructed to go lightly, or it was my lucky day.

Laws are sometimes made to satisfy certain lobbyists, and ignored in their application.

I'm stoked. Several hours of e-smoking convinces me it was a worthwhile purchase.

Default lucky lucky

several of us aussies have been lucky with our imports of both hardware and juice,
however, the way to go here is small orders for personal use,
and quietly,
we don't want to wake the sleeping baby........
