The legislation, far from saving lives, will kill thousands in the next few years.

Thanks for your work, Bill. You tried. I agree with your conclusion that e-cigs are not directly affected. They are not a tobacco product. But this legislation will likely force action soon from the FDA, since these "addictive" e-cigs can't be allowed to fall into the hands of "the children" being so protected by the new law.

If forces demand a ban on 4mg pellets, what will they rule on a device that delivers 36mg liquid? I bet janitors are finding cartridges in high school trash dumps ...
That is true about the juice, but the e-cig is a 'nicotine delivery device" which is also in the recommended bill.
You have to read the whole thing to find this. It's a shame, but they are trying to close every door.

    Default Get Around This Mess.

Hey guys I am fairly new here , but it seems to me that e-cigarettes will be banned/Illegal in the upcoming months. ( I hope not , but lets face reality)

Now the question is : How can we still vape ?

I think Our best bet , it to completely change the way the e cigarette looks.

    If we can

    A) Have the same Atomized Technology inside a product that DOES NOT LOOK like a cigarette/e-cigarette.

    B) Never make Health Claims.

    C) Call it a Personal Vaporiser

    D) Make sure that Vendors who sell Personal Vaporiser DO NOT sell JUICE/NICOTINE.

I think we should be Fine.

There is nothing that can be done about that except trying more preventative measures. In the first meeting they did agree that teen smoking was down by almost 60% or so since advertising had been changed and groups to stop kids from smoking were started. But it just goes to show that we must all be children and the FDA is our mommy and daddy.
That is what they want the herded masses to believe, not just right out front like that but kind of in the back of your mind thing.... Not really something they know they believe and would deny if you asked them, but you can deduce they must think that why by what they say.

"Well, I no "I" can think for myself.. but... I don't think people in general are smart enough to think for themselves."

    Kind of a...

"I am so glad I am a Beta-Plus. I love green and I am soooo glad I am not and Alpha. They work so hard and Gammas are soooo dumb."

It is really scary how many people have been conditioned in this way. If this ban goo's through Personal Vaporisers will go down in the history books as being "Far more dangerous then cigarettes" even though it is completely illogical. No one will question it because they seen it on the news.

Meanwhile, I die of lung cancer but at lest we got thoughs horable e-cigarettes off the market

Well there are vaporisers in the store down the street for use with any thing you want to vaporise they even have a tep gage.

You can buy VG at the store.
You can buy water and flavour no problem at all.

It is really a question of how to buy nicotine.

I guess your best bet would be to buy nicotine patches then extract the nicotine and use that. However, it would be vary expensive... Though I have not done the math on that.

The Senate advanced the FDA tobacco control bill today. And look at the vote to shut down opponents wanting to offer amendments.

Thanks for the update and link, but I'm not seeing where they voted to shut down opponents wanting to offer amendments.

    I read this:

"The Senate voted 84-11 to limit debate on whether to consider the tobacco bill. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., an outspoken opponent of the bill, is expected to pull out the stops by forcing numerous procedural votes on the bill."

I took that to mean that they voted for not allowing debate to let the bill die and that the majority supported the bill.

    And this:

"The Senate is unlikely to debate amendments to the bill until later this week. Burr said Tuesday he wants to introduce an alternative to the bill that would create a new agency within the Health and Human Services Department to regulate tobacco.

Burr said he hopes to stretch debate into next week on the tobacco regulation measure."

I read that to mean that the amendments will be debated later this week.

    Did I miss something?

You all should tune into CSPAN 2 right now. The Senate is debating the new tobacco legislation right now. Richard Burr (R) just gave a very interesting speech about the benefits of alternate tobacco technologies that promise to reduce smoking and increase general public health. **** Durbin (D) is now speaking on the same topic. Neither Senator has mentioned the e-cigarette yet, but they have talked about several similar smoke free alternatives.

I just wrote Burr a fairly detailed email suggesting that he look at e-cigarette technology and consider how it impacts this pending legislation. I'm in the process of composing a similar email to Durbin. I'd strongly suggest that you all do the same thing. With this legislation being actively debated, now is the time to get your email or phone call noticed.

Yeah, Durbin is off base on the advertising targeting. He's generally a reasonably level headed guy, but the examples he's showing right now are poor. He's making the "it comes in various flavors so that means they're targeted at kids", as if adults don't like things with flavors too.

But this is exactly why these guys need their awareness of e-cigarettes raised. They're calling for products that reduce public health risk, but it appears that none of them have ever heard of e-cigarettes (arguably the most promising nicotine delivery system on the market right now.)
