I dont think it is so much different than a celebrity practically getting an orgasm from eating a carl's jr. burger. While I do not advertise that way myself, sex does sell. They can do what they would like.

Well guys, I figured I'd put in my two cents about the advertising. I am the kinda guy that doesn't like looking at something he can't touch. So therefor, the sex appeal doesn't work for me, isn't targeted my way, I get it. But here's why I ordered my Joye 510.

Basically, it all comes down to my creative process. I am a 26 year old father of two who is going back down the road of education for graphic design. I love to draw. Problem is, I do my best with a lit cigarette in my mouth. Not because nicotine helps me, or because I think I need it to draw well, but there is just something about it. Being a heavy smoker these past 8 years(No, I did not start smoking cigarettes until I was 18 and it was legal, coolness bedamned), I have drawn more with something than without. I don't know. I guess the hang of the smoke i nthe air and all of that kinda helps me out, like a muse. So pretty much, I looked at the e-cig and figured that I could get that 'atmosphere'(not talking about the smell, more of a fix of that oral fixation that our minds associate with smoking when we've done it a while)without taking it outside for the kids' sake. And hey, to boot, I could be using an inhaled product that may roughly simulate a cigarette, without actually burning anything. Safe? Well, I don't know. Do I care? Not really. More of a "I'm not smoking thousands of chemicals, hundreds of which are known to be toxic or carcinogenic" kinda thing. Plus, I would then vape heavily. I already have a gallon of PG and a liter of Glycerine, plus half a dozen LorAnn's flavors. Basically, I plan on mixing up several no-nic cocktails to fill some carts with for my 'artistic' periods, that I can then swap for my nic carts when I feel I need some.

So pretty much, for me and those I know who also ordered e-cigs(I work as a dealer in a casino in Iowa, the only public places in the state where smoking is allowed are casino gaming floors, and 5 of us ordered pretty much at the same time after discussing research and the possible pros and cons), it had nothing to do with cessation, nothing to do with expense(though being cheaper will be an added bonus), and has everything to do with it being an alternative we believe is at least a little bit safer.

I'd like to see the possibility of some very creative, yet 'safe' advertisements. I liek the environmental angle too. No cigarette butts to rot in a landfil for 7+ years, no more burning plants that release noxious gasses(At least the additives that are put in modern american cigarettes), no more second hand smoke, etc.

Having .... in our ads isn't going to hurt us. Having nicotine in the cartridges is going to do that.

Is it a bit seedy? Of course. Is it showing up in Newsweek? No, it's in seedy places (Mininova, TPB, etc.) and that works just fine.

Honestly, what we need is more people using e-cigs. In this country, big business came before big government, but in our industry, big government came before big business. We've got to catch up. We won't be able to wage war on the FDA if we're a $100 million a year industry, we need to be a $1 billion a year industry to do that.

I sincerely wish I had the money to work on this, to open a manufacturing plant on this side of the pond and start pumping out real, usable cig-e's for general consumption. Mixed with the correct marketing, we'd knock down mountains in sales.

Capitalism is going to save this industry, not pussyfooting around. Those ads are fine.

Love your straight talk and I would normally agree with you but....

.....Nanny hasn't told me the appropriate response in this scenario. Nanny keeps me occuped with other things like bans and spending more money than I earn. But I hear loads of stories and my favorite is about Little Red, who wore a hooded cloak, and ventured into the city to take an e-cig to her grandmother. Thank goodness the Wolf caught her in time to save Granny from the big bad effects of a drug delivery device for a substance more deadly than anything on this planet.

....and they lived happily ever after except for Little Red, the Wolf gobbled her up.

Tons of industries use these selling tactics every day. However, those using them are also placing them in appropriate places. Some magazines, some bars, some special kinds of clubs (lol), ect would be perfect places for e-cig adds with models in them.

Its all about your target market. AND it has to be a different campain for each target market.

sex sells... period. the people using these hot hot hotties are not about you making yourself healthier (unless it's a good marketing angle), they just want your money. even the guy who sold me my smoking everywhere tried the sexy thing with me! "you can use it whenever you would smoke a cigarette... after meals, when you get up in the morning, after sex..." it was quite comical as while he was attractive, he was like 5 feet tall! lol you're gonna have to let this go or move into a shack in the woods... otherwise beer commercials are really going to upset you!
