I tend to think that the ruyan PM release is fake. I have never seen a company like PM 1) not include the SEC safe harbour language, 2) an about section at the end of a release and 3) a media contact specific to PM. Also PM would require a confidentiality agreement restricting any and all press releases.

Also be mindful of the fact that the Ruyan quote of $0.18 is in HK dollars not US. Hk is .12 to the USD.

Interesting take - I searched PM's site and all over to find PM's side of the story. I found nothing.

I think we need to look at this PM/Nabisco PR stunt objectively and read between the lines here.
1. This is a press release submitted by a e-cig dealer/sales website, look at the first link in the article linking the keyword "e-cigarette" to the person who wrote the press releases website, generating more sales for her company.
2. If Phillip Morris/Nabisco decides to compete in the e-cig arena it would be the dumbest thing they have ever done (feeling my Michael More side coming out here). This would be the same as them making gum or a patch for those who wanted to quit. To do this effectively they would have to acknowledge that smoking regular cigarettes is bad, and they will NEVER do that, remember them outright lying to congress a couple years ago?
3. Why would one of the largest manufacturing companies in the US turn to a 3rd rate Asian manufacturer that has a horrible reputation and pending lawsuits in the US court system for there manufacturing when they could probably do it better for less $ in the US?
Smells like a marketing pitch to me...

Windpath, you might want to check your facts...Ruyan is not a "3rd rate Asian manufacturer"...they are the inventor of the electronic cigarette. As for the "horrible reputation and pending lawsuits", that would be Smoking Everywhere.
But remember, life is a sexually transmitted disease that is 100% fatal.--cappadoc

1- This release is, the others are not.
2- It's not Phillip Morris/Nabisco, it's Phillip Morris International and it would be a smart thing. When you see a major competitor to your product, and users flocking to it and they say they want to have you distribute it, it would be stupid not to jump at that. The FDA and the US Congress have already said in five years they need to have developed "safer" cigarettes. What better way to do that then buy the safer tech that's already developed?
3- You can't make anything in the US cheaper than China, and it's expensive to develop your own. Why bother when you can drop some cash and buy it? PM International tests the waters, then PM usa licenses it from who? themselves. They call it a spin off company, but yeah right, was spun off for legal reason, all the cash flows to the same spot.
AS to the others about why no word from PM, well that doesn't surprise me at all. They talk about things when they are done, not when they are in negotiations. Doesn't help them to talk about it. Only reason Ruyan leaked it, if it was they who did, is to bolster stock prices. PM doesn't need any bolstering.

I get what you are saying guys, but I do not see RUYAN as the inventor of anything other then *maybe* a new packaging technique. Tests were done in the US in the 1940's on inhaling vaporized PG, they did not invent the atomizer either, or liquefied nicotine, or the cigarette shape....
What did they invent?
I could not find a single US patent (a few applications, but no issued patent)
Someone pointed out in another forum that PM is rumored (by bloomberg) to be making an offer on a dutch chewing tobacco company called Swedish Match
Swedish Match AB, Europe’s largest maker of smokeless tobacco products, jumped 3.8 percent to 151.50 kronor on speculation Philip Morris International Inc. will make a takeover bid for the company.
“There is a rumor that Philip Morris is showing interest in Swedish Match, and the level mentioned is 182 kronor,” said Michael Arnhuvud, a trader at Swedbank AB. Philip Morris spokeswoman Marija Sepic declined to comment, as did Swedish Match spokeswoman Rupini Bergstroem.
Here is the company info:
Swedish Match AB - Google Finance
Now this rumor makes sense to me....
and as far as
You can't make anything in the US cheaper than China
goes, if you have ever been to Phillip Morris in Virgina you know they can do it, and they do every day...
I guess the bottom line is this is all speculation until something tangible happens, but jumping up and down about it with no real facts or evidence does not make sense to me...
