Not synthetic, just just highly purified, from tobacco.

Synthetic means made by chemical reaction; can be done, but not easily, so too expensive and afaik not used anywhere.

Interesting comment by Dr. Siegel on Sunday's Q&A with him at Vapersplace.com... he has never heard of synthetic nicotine.

Honestly, I have searched far and wide on the Internet and cannot find any such thing as well. If anyone has a link, that would be awesome... but I am beginning to think there is no such thing.

Now, could you refine nicotine so cleanly that TSNA's are not present? If you look at Commit Lozenges, which are the only nicotine product that I can find that does not contain TSNA's, then where they source their nicotine *could* be synthetic... unless their refining process is just that good. But why not use it for all of the other NRT's they produce?

Personally, I have more trust in the natural plant than I would ever have for a synthetic one.

Did it ever occur to you Lacey the Johnson Creek tells different things to different people? All I can tell you is what I was told when there website stated "tobacco Free" --so you are getting told one thing and I got told another.

From what I understand from other suppliers on this board--Johnson Creek refuses to revel its source of its nicotine--and that is their right---so do not go around and shoot the messenger!!

Sun - I am not shooting the messenger... but when the messenger shows up with no proof of the message, all I can do is ask for myself and get an answer and provide proof of the message.

I get the feeling that the word synthetic has been used a little bit loosely, perhaps for marketing purposes......

Synthetic nicotine would be a pretty absurd thing to produce, given that the extraction seems to be pretty easy, and nicotine is pretty abundant in certain plants.

Well, a company can't get a patent for a substance that occurs in nature. So they often get around it by producing a synthesized version of it different enough from the natural substance to qualify. Then the money rolls in. But I'm not sure where nicotine falls in any of this.
