Funny how the FDA will not even admit the ruling to the media. FDA and big government lei again and again to the public and the media. The world is nothing but propaganda anymore!

Unfortunately, CNN had to include:
"But the units may deliver hazardous chemicals, according to preliminary checks by federal regulators. ...after finding diethylene glycol, a chemical used in antifreeze that is toxic to humans."
An interesting blurb in the report is:
*****
"President Obama, who has described himself as an occasional smoker, has been offered one of the devices by Florida Rep. Cliff Stearns. The Republican lawmaker's office said the president did not respond.
An administration spokesman last year said the White House was not aware of the offer.
In a copy of a letter to the chief executive dated March 26, Stearns wrote, "I have recently given out e-cigarettes to a few members of Congress and they have become quite a hit."
*****
Perhaps we all should write to Florida Rep. Cliff Stearns and suggest he become familiar with the FDA stance and the court case - then suggest he start a movement in Congress with the 'few members' that are familiar with e-cigs to get them protected...
Here is a link to a blog by Dr. Michael Siegel.
The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary
He is the only reasonable anti-smoking guy I've come across.
He supports e-cigs and frequently posts stories about the absurdity of the fanatic anti's... I check it out daily to see what new commentary he has posted.
Today he has a headline posted:
"Results of Electronic Cigarette Clinical Trial Announced
Check back later today for a commentary on the results of the first clinical trial of electronic cigarettes, the results of which were announced today. Full report to follow soon."
I will be checking in later today to see what he has to say...
If you scroll down his page further, you will come to:
"Boston University School of Public Health Symposium on Tobacco Regulation and the FDA Now Available for Viewing"
Here's the link:
BUniverse - Is There Such a Thing as a Safe(r) Cigarette? Tobacco Regulation and the FDA
It was interesting, but I wouldn't recommend using the 2 hours it takes to just sit and watch... if you can have it going in the background while you do something else...
Basically, it was 4 speakers discussing if there is such a thing as a 'safer' cigarette - 2 on the con side, 2 on the pro side. Dr. Siegel was speaking on the pro side and actually brought an e-cig to show (I was disappointed that he didn't actually demonstrate it...).
FWIW

Because of his open mindedness, Dr. Siegel has been shunned by his anti-smoking colleagues. He has even been accused by them of being a shill for big tobacco.
He stands by the truth, he is someone to be admired.

Ture Jerry, and it is a shame. Hopefully more Doctors of his status will rise to the occasion but look at the grief they get.

Having read Dr. Siegel's Rest of the Story on the Reported Results it appear's to me that Tropical Bob came to the same conclusion as the Reported Results two years ago.

Favor and Nicogel
Judge Leon notes in his ruling that the FDA's citing of Nicogel and Favor is not particularly relevant since neither had been subjected to judicial review.

I was reading the latest on the ASH site, it's the same old story from the anti's and the FDA.
I have come to the conclusion, that we at the ECF, Dr. Siegel, Bill Godshall and everyone who has any postive comments about the e-cig are talking to ourselves.

Just a thought. If smaller suppliers are still having there shipments seized. But "Smoking Everywhere" is allowed to have there shipments come through. Why dont the smaller suppliers simply have there packages delivered to whatever usual address they normally would but have the intended recepient on the package label as "Smoking Everywhere Electronic Cigarettes"?
If the FDA is throwing a tantrum and being technical well..... who says that the little guys cant get technical right back?
