Virginia Commonwealth says smoking better than ecigs
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE CNN STORY IT IS A DIFFERENT LINK ABOUT THE STORY!! CHECK OUT THE LINK!!
Study reveals a need to evaluate and regulate ?electronic cigarettes? – VCU News Center
They observed that when participants used the two brands of “electronic cigarettes,” there was no significant increase in nicotine levels or heart rate, and little reduction in craving. However,
when participants smoked their own brand of cigarettes, substantial and significant increases in plasma nicotine and heart rate, and decreases in craving were observed.
So, in other words, smoking cigarettes works better, so just keep using those and forget ecigs? What a stupid and irresponsible statement!!
Plus, now he's helping the Attorney Generals go after vendors for making false claims. Thanks for looking after the health and well being of smokers, Doc.
How about the fact that, in spite of the *cough* "fact" that they supposedly don't deliver nicotine, hundreds of thousands of people have successfully switched to vaping and don't miss smoking. Isn't that a GOOD thing made even better, because there is even less exposure to nicotine??
Hmmm....wonder if it's Big Pharma or Big Tobacco that funds the National Cancer Institute?

I did a google search for some background info about the doc yesterday. Interesting search, I'd recommend trying it. He used similar PR tactics related to research about the dangers of hookah smoking. The snappy overstatement of results in the sound bites had that community riled up as well. His current research is NIH funded (2 RO1's)

It would be interesting to know if any e-cig smokers have taken the Nicotine test and passed showing that they are not a tobacco user LOL

Certain irony that Virginia is one of the biggest tobacco-producing states there is isn't there? And I'm sure they want to protect that product at all costs.

Guys, pay attention, this isn't the CNN Story. Give me a break. That's old news and CASAA and the Vaper's Coalition knew about it before it even hit ECF and I was reading Eissenbergs comments on that old thread already.
LOOK AT THE FRIGGING LINK.
The above quote was is an official press release by Virginia Commonwealth posted on their site and there are videos on the link interviewing Eissenberg. The link I posted here was posted by Tbob and buried somewhere in the CNN thread and I don't think it was discussed at all for what it said. People are too busy kissing Dr. Eissenberg's butt in that thread and assumed the link was the same as the CNN story. This is DIFFERENT.

This thread isn't about the study as much as what Virginia Commonwealth is spewing on it's site.
They basically say - forget ecigs, smoking delivers nicotine better. This is dangerous and irresponsible!!

Not surprising to see this. I mentioned it in a press release last month when some idiot rep from NJ says that real cigarettes may be less harmful than the electronic ones.
The reason why they're saying it has no nicotine because they want the public to think the PV is not effective. Kind of like showing a 2 pack a day smoker that you can't quit smoking by chewing Big Red gum. They know they're not stopping the flow of these things. They're now switching tactics to keep as many new users away as possible to cut down the damage.
This is straw pulling at it's finest. First, we were sucking in toxic fumes from antifreeze. Now it's the "ineffectiveness" of the electronic cigarette to help a smoker switch over. I wonder what other "science" they come up with next to discredit the PV. Perhaps it causes acne and impotence too.
