Because the e-cig market is so new, and because it is simultaneously fraught with all kinds of legal, social and political ramifications... this combination of factors creates a kind of "gold rush" mentality of people trying to corner the market.

The most aggressive business types therefore will try to "pump and dump" on e-cigs, in other words, make a $$ killing and then get out fast before the gov't hammer comes down on it. So all manner of short-term-gain advertising tactics (most prominently the PR "news" piece) are being employed like hot cakes.

It'll be good for getting the word out about e-cigs, but the other side of this double-edged sword is all the poor products and marketing scams that many of us have barely escaped by coming here. It'll leave some potential vapers feeling cheated or that e-cigs just don't deliver, and if they don't find us, they will go back to smoking analogs.

Just keep one thing in mind, that the scam e-cig companies don't care one bit about vapers and their cause. If they make their killing and get out early before the ban (if it happens), they will pat themselves on the back, and won't give a damn about the damage they have done to people who could use the e-cig to quit smoking and save their lives.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

I've always contended that companies like this one, Blu, etc actually end up turning more smokers away from PV's and back to analogs because of their over-priced, poor performing products.

That's precisely what bothers me. I've talked to do many people that have started poorly and haven't had a good product as a first effort. Heck, I was one of them, not enough research before I jumped. However, finding ECF got me headed in the right direction and has been my source for information when I hit the wall on the e cig/analog battle.

E cigs are great and for some people the transition is easy, but not for all. This forum certainly aids the process. I don't necessarily mind the PR pieces, the FDA certainly is capable of issuing their own. It's the individual posts that end up looking like spam that bother me.

Well you found my first mistake and I'm not sure that Blu is that bad, it's just that the 510 with a manual battery, in my case, worked much better. I've vaped my Blu from time to time and it's not bad, just different.

Sorry, it's an unsubstantiated press release. One of many that go out every day. I have called the HR Dept. at all of the local hospitals and no one knew what an e-cig was.

It's no accident that companies like this do not sell 510's or a good mod. They are not interested in helping people truely find a good alternative to analogs. They put 95% of their money into slick advertising, not the product because they are only interested in making a cheap buck. Making false statements with no evidence fits with their overall intent.
