New Jersey's proposed ban on public use
Don't know if this info has been posted before (and no hard feelings if it has and this thread goes bye-bye), but apparently NJ's Senate Health Committee has unanimously adopted the bill:
New Jersey Bill to Ban ?E-Cigarettes? Use in Public Passes another Hurdle | Tobacco Facts.
Same old misinformation about DEG in the article, courtesy of NJ Senator Robert Gordon.

This is how brilliant NJ is...
From the article: Smoking would be defined as any process of inhaling tobacco and exhaling smoke, or any other substance or vapor that can be inhaled and exhaled.
It's a shame that NJ has to give up it's oxygen addiction.
Nitrogen? Water vapor?

There goes that dimwit Gordon again. He's just as ignorant and misinformed as Banzhaf. He mentioned once that real cigarettes may be safer than the electronic ones
NJ Government Official Proclaims Real Cigarettes Are Safer Than Electronic Cigarettes

This is from January. Just FYI - it just bans indoor smoking the same as regular smoking, not banning them altogether. Still a boneheaded move though.

So technically using a humidifier in an office building when you're sick would be illegal and subject you to a fine?

Based on the way the article is written, this includes breathing anything.
From doing a little snooping around I found this is just a poorly written article. The actual content of the NJ bill contains nothing like that.
All that this bill does is includes electronic nicotine delivery devices as being included within smoking bans from indoor and workplace use, and prohibits sale to minors.

Go ahead, NJ, make it illegal for me to vape at work. Are they going to come to my office and try to stop me?
Are they banning fog machines, too? They contain the same "known irritant". These lawmakers are ignorant.

The NJ legislature already enacted that into law. So its already illegal to use an e-cigarette in any indoor workplace or public place in NJ (except the casinos in Atlantic City).
But I'm not aware of anyone being cited (or even warned) for doing so.
While virtually everyone in NJ knows that its illegal to smoke a cigarette in indoor workplaces and public places, and while virtually everyone can smell the smoke from just one cigarette, most most folks in NJ still don't know what an e-cigarette is, and far fewer know that its illegal to use them in workplaces and public places.
I also doubt that very few folks in NJ would contact the health department to report someone using an e-cigarette, although using one in an indoor public place like a restaurant, bar, indoor mall, post office, bank, retail store, etc. could result in a stranger reporting the violation to management or to the health department.

I don't think this is true (yet).
A friend of mine was just looking to set up a booth to sell ecigs at a convention and the convention center wanted to make sure it was ok to use them indoors. They contacted the State Fire Marshall and he told them that there was no problem at the moment, but the recent legislation takes effect 180 days after enactment.
