I'm not so sure now membership status is dependant on the number of posts made.

Perhaps it's an honor bestowed upon us by the gods on high

Membership level kicks in above certain numbers of posts.

There is no advantage in being above a "full-member", since that is when all forum privileges kick in.

Users from the old board will remember that to start a thread in the new system, they had to be (manually, by myself) added to a special group before they could do so.

Well the same thing happens now, except that it happens automatically when members meet certain criteria and become "full members".

That's all, except that I thought at some point I'd have a bit of fun devising new ranks for post numbers.

Maybe I shall start with 1000+ = "post whore"

I don't think many here are aware that rank is awarded much as in the military. Junior members have a single e-cig, senior members get a little e-cigar decoration, moderators are given a star, and post whores are given a medal depicting a Smiley with an e-cig hanging out of its mouth.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that the Smiley medal failed within a week and has been returned to China for replacement.
