Until we hear otherwise, I assume this most recent one was caused by ECF tinkering too. The fact that the site no longer works in a number of browsers seems to support this conclusion, and that gets back to my original comment. Tinkering with the server is fine, but at least tell us that there may be some outages and try to keep up updated. Letting the site go down for 24 hours with no warning and no subsequent explanation is disrespectful of the membership.
The phrase "get over yourself" comes to mind...............

There are sites that I pay to use that occasionally are down with no notice (MMO's and their associated forums mostly) and sometimes there is notice. Either way, you learn to adjust to the fact that sometimes you can't get to a site you are used to being able to go to. Just like sometimes cable is out and you can't watch tv. It sucks, but you find something else to do. We do not pay to use this site and I, for one, am very grateful that someone went to the trouble to start it and keep it running. Making it stressful for them by not understanding the general life rule that "Sh** Happens" is not very helpful and is actually pretty ungrateful and unkind. Also, as pointless as it would be for me to go out and yell at the clouds when it rains and my DISHTV doesn't work. Just my 2 cents, not meant to offend, just maybe put things in perspective. And no, I don't have anything to do with the running of the site and don't know the people that run it.

Please. All I did was observe what's actually going on. The admins have been working on the server configuration. That lead to the outage. The assertion that it was a completely unforeseen event is false. All I've asked for is some advance notice and some status updates. This is a large board. A lot of people rely on it. The staff should respect that and let people know when the reliability of the board is going to be questionable. Telling me to "get over [myself]" just makes you look like a prick IMO.

If a person can't live without this site for more than 24 hrs they have an addiction much worse than anologs. IMO. I would be signing up for a forum to help you through the excruciating times when this one is down......I PAY membership dues to organizations and by God when they aren't available 24-7 I get right after it and raise hell as to why my needs aren't being met!
