Like any pharmaceutical, esp. psychotropic drugs, it's got its haters and lovers.
I've seen it work wonders for some people. For others it doesn't work, for some it's a nightmare.

I've known two people that took it and had to be taken off of it because it made them suicidal. The xxxx is scary! I would never recommend it to anyone.

Like ever drug on the market, they have side effects.
Both my son and daughter both quit using Chantix, however one of them sneeks in an analog every once in a while. My son says that if the urge ever returns that he WILL grab my PV and never touch an analog.
I asked one of my doctors to put me on Chantix because I wanted to quit smoking and he said he wouldn't do it because of the negatives involved, the side effects, to include the suicide rates taking Chantix.
So he put me on Bupropion instead, saying that it was one of the ingredients in Welbutrin to help smokers quit. Well after more than a year it did get me down from 2+ packs a day to as little as 6 analogs a day, but I gradually worked my way back up to over a pack a day. Then a good friend in NC told me he quit after 30 years using his PV and I took the plunge. Upon receipt of my KR808D-1 in the mail, I quit instantly and have not looked back.
I currently enjoy my Joye 510 and have been in vaping heaven for 38 days now!
I quit instantly with my first vape on 4 November 2009. Thank You ECF!

I was taking Chantix for a couple weeks, and what a depressed feeling one gets when taking it. I had horrible dreams, and was melancholy the rest of the day, not to mention the terrible stomach aches if you didn't eat something first. The best thing a person could do is stay away from that stuff, it did help me cut down some the first few days, but after that I seemed to smoke more.

I took Chantix for one month and quit smoking with it. I was sick to my stomach for 2 weeks straight and I had trouble sleeping. I was exhausted but couldn't sleep.
Other than that I felt better than ever. I didn't continue after the first month partly because of the cost, which wasn't covered by my insurance, of $152 for a 30 day supply.
I then found e-cigs and started using them. There were times when I wanted a smoke so bad that I was afraid that I was going to break down and buy a pack. I will never smoke another cigarette.

I did Zyban for 6 weeks a while back,
Doctor wouldn't even give it to me without me forcing the issue,
said one of her patients had died in bed after being prescribed it.
Strong stuff (too strong), went to half dosage right away after feeling
the psychological effects, but it worked (for 6 weeks), i.e. until I stopped
using it & then found a quarter of a ciggie in my jacket pocket
- bang!, back on ciggies.
