Helicoils ! Strong Stainless steel. About $15 for 20. All: eBay Store ? TOOLSQWiK: Search results for. M7: http://cgi.ebay.com/20-Helicoil-M7-X...3A1%7C294%3A30 The M7 is 10.5mm long; certainly long enough, could be shortened. Just need to put in a round piece or board or plastic at the bottom with a positive contact point (as on torch heads - the board with a contact point for the positive terminal of the battery). Then perhaps hot glue as required. ps: Didn't find M7 0.5 yet (assuming that's correct), but seems to me that an M7 1.0 would work. Within minutes would have a strong threaded connector with electrical connections and air flow. ![]() (The helicoil would be used the other way up) The hot end of a 501 atomizer:

i also came acroos those while searching for a M7x.5 tap, but .75 was the smallest i could find. wouldn't the 1.0 be prone to cross threading?

Perhaps it is 0.75. The 901 threads look about that and I can't imagint that the 510 would have closer threading. Previously I suggested using some stiff wire (toaster style nichrome seems good for this) to carefully wrap around the threads of the atty and then use some glue or solder to hold in place (then unsrew atty). Someone may have an M7 1.0 in their toolbox/attic and be able to say aye or nay ...

thought ~ you should run this by dedmon.... ... he could wrap the atty, then mold to it, shape, whatever.

| Multi-strand wouldnt be suitable. I have tried on a 901 with some nichrome (toaster guage) and it's not bad but a bit thicker and it would probably work. The cross-section is round rather than square, but would still be ok.

Amazon.com: 7mm x .5 High Speed Steel Plug Tap: Victor Machinery Exchange They ship fast, shipping seems kind of high, but they have stuff that you can't find anywhere else. Search thier store front. They have 7x1.25, 7x1.0, 7x.75.... | |

By eye, I'd say the thread pitch is either 1 or 0.75; but most say 0.5 I'll put my 2 cents on 0.75. When i say 'by eye', i'm looking at a pic on the screen and doing some trig ![]() ~~~ btw, if the 1.0 helio thread is too wide, just put it in a press, or (enter improvised technigue here) ...

if a 901 is M8x.75, then doing a side by side i'd have to say the 510 would be .5, much finer thread (smaller pitch). butt a 510 atty thread against the side of a 901 batt thread and you'll see what i mean. lathe? nah. only if you're going to turn your own stock. @Laredo7mm thanks for the link! even if shipping is killer, it's got to beat the one i was looking into! 7 x.50 Hand Tap, High Speed Steel - HermansCentral.com available at HermansCentral.com
