This makes the screwdriver look like a clone. Excellent work!

Where do you get those bushings? Did you make them or purchase? Im in the process of building a screwdriver and would like to try one of these. Great work BTW and love the button.

I REALLY like this one. What kind of LED did you use? Did you have to put a diode? That button looks nice too. Can you give details? What LED flashlight did you grab that button from?

Ill try to give some details on the build.

First thing was to strip the flashlight down. The flashlight was installed into the chuck on the lathe and the top portion milled off. I left as much of the neck as I could to give me ample space for the electronics. Then I machined some 5/8" nylon rod to create the bushing that would be pressed into the freshly cut neck and then the atomizer adapter would be press fitted in to the bushing

Basically standing upright Inside the neck is a pcb that is about 1/2" x 1/2" with a micro (SMT) tact switch, an led emitter and a SMT Resister. This board is soldered to the pcb disc that slips in on the under side of the neck creating a T shape.

The button (Red alum) has a shoulder on it (Pic of similiar buttons posted below) The button is then fitted into a hole drilled into a thin piece of rubber that is pushed into the neck to keep the button in position will the electrical components are slipped in from the back. I had to file the tact button down and re-install the pcb a few times to get the right feel on the switch

When the bushing is pressed on to the top of the neck the led slips right inside the bushing. The factory on/off switch is left intact, no mods to the base.

I wish a had a microscope to do the soldering, holy crap was that hard...

I have to give credit to trogg for the original mod and also to screamer for his awesome mod that sparked my mod.

    Cheers

I don't own or know how to use a lathe, will you be willing to sell the chuck alone? Also I'd really like to see pics of all the components you used to assemble. Thanks for posting your new screwdriver.

Aww man I'm an LED fanboy as well. That is a truly sweet mod. Screwdrivers should come like that stock.
