Basicly you are using the SS wick (unoxidized) as the heating element. I tried that a year ago with the ATOmizter and the SS would disinirgate very quickly. That video was 6 moths old, I am sure if was a viable solution we would have heard more about it.

I remember when 'sturm' was experimenting w/ that; can't remember the specifics but I know he abandoned it last I heard.

I'd like to find something similar to the 1/8" PTFE tubing with thinner walls to press into the top of the cover where the wick goes through. I plan on removing the nipple and was hoping to be able to fit a larger wick. I'd also like to extend the tubing down a little further into the chamber, as I think it will help reduce the amount of juice that gets sucked into the air holes. The only 1/8" PTFE I can find is 1/16" I.D. which is what came with the unit I figure. Any ideas?
I don't have mine yet, but have some idea what you mean with juice in the air holes. IIRC, the PTFE is 1/8" long? With the ego tank nipple in place it may be difficult but pushing it upwards into the tank some remedied some issues for me in the micro-G. Perhaps shortening the tubing so it is farther from the airholes?
Yeah, the tubing is 1/8" O.D. and it's probably about 1/8" long as well. Right now the bottom of the tubing is flush with the top on the inside, which is also where the 4 air holes are located. I think a longer piece of tubing would help isolate the wick from the air holes a bit better, and if I can find something with a thinner wall I could potentially use a larger wick.
The juice I'm using is very thick, I generally use a carto tank and the holes I punch are nearly 1/8" diameter. I'm using 325 mesh in my GTUS right now and I'm on about my 5th wick so far and it's working reasonably. This wick was cut around 1/2" wide, then tapered toward the top to about 1/8" on the top edge. It's rolled as loose as I can manage to roll it and still fit in the hole. I'm still getting dry hits occasionally when I chain vape, though I'm only on my 2nd tank so I'm hoping it'll improve a bit. My coil is perfect, running at 2.0 ohms and glowing top to bottom. I even have a washer on the positive post to make sure I don't have a hot spot on the top leg, but I'm still not getting consistent hits when chain vaping.
I'm going to keep messing with it, but at some point I'm going to cut the nipple off the top to see how it works with a larger wick. I plan on using the 3ml tank most of the time, and I have a few more coming my way anyways.
Update:
Ok I fianlly got all of the tops seperated, packaged and labeled along with the istructions sheet for the manufacture. This was alot more work than I thought at first. But I have it all boxed up and weights about 60lbs. The tap is in the box in the bag with the istructions. I will be mailing it out on Monday via UPS.
