Default Simple TW Passthough 5v Mod

So I got tired of vapping on my USB Passthough simply, because it's colder than using a normal battery. I would sit here waiting and waiting for a battery to get some juice so I could vape with heat. I have seen that lots of people have been running their Titan 510 at 5v, and have even found that the atomizer stays cleaner.

So here it is. Take off the screw on the front, and pop the side off with a flat head screw driver. Then take a soldering iron and solder off the cable that goes to the passthough 510 adapter. Then solder that cable on the USB side + to + - to -. Take the cable and run it down the edge and out the back. Then put the top back on, and your down that's it. I might add a switch later so I could use a battery or 5v vapping.

Cable coming out the back just like it was before.

Dude the batt in the passthrough is the best feature. You can take it with you and vape on the go. I ordered 4 batts for my passthrough. No more screw in batts 4 me.

To keep the same functionality, in terms of the unit keeps the battery charged up and and can can run off the battery when out and about, BUT get the more powerful USB power direct when connected to USB, do this:

Needs 2 power (rectifier) diodes such as 1N4001. Get low forward voltage drop ones to keep the maximum voltage.

The trade-off is getting slightly less voltage when running off the battery.

The alternative is a 2-way switch:

Oh, I hate the battery. I have two 510 passthroughs and they are nothing but trouble. I finally had to switch back to 901 yesterday because the PT I have for it doesn't have any bloody battery so it works as it should.

DaMulta: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!! I was actually close to opening a pack of emergency analogs yesterday (but didn't).

Now I have to get a soldering iron. Any tips on that?

Just go to your local radio shack and buy a cheap one....

Hold the tip on the solder and it will melt and free itself. Adding solder to the wire is the best idea, but there is plenty of extra on the board. So you really don't need to buy a roll, but it's nice to have for other projects:P.

If you snip off the in-line battery and connect an USB plug onto the free end feeding the atomizer. You then have effectively created a straight passthrough. Connect a female USB to the battery box from aa spare cable. Now, you can connect the battery box to the PT if you want to, and the battery box can be used as a standalone USB charger.

You could do that with stereo/mono jack plugs too.

One female, and then the other male.

Doing the switch above would be the best idea. Ground would be ground on the other end. You don't have to remove the ground only the + BUT doing it that way would make you strip some of the wire.
