Yes. I think the SS wick will let go of the juice better and with cotton there on the outside it draws it right out.

What I did was wrapped the cotton around the SS wick as an insulator and it absorbs (wicks) juice out of the SS. I kept having dry hits with the cotton yarn. I also used to have hot spots and flooding with SS wicks. Now the cotton keeps the SS from flooding through the hole, and the cotton provides the insulator around the coil and hole and stops the glowing wire from the post to the wick.

Tonight I started getting dry hits so I took my 3 ml tank apart and the wick (cotton) was completely dry and the tank didn't have a single drop in it.

As far as prepping the yarn, just cut a piece the length of the SS wick and remove the twisted threads that hold it together and unwrap it to about 1/2 to 3/4 " wide, then wrap that around the SS wick.

Question that I thought would be appropriate in this thread.

Does anyone know that if someone has a metal allergy such as a allergy to nickel, if the nickel present in the ss wicks could effect a person with that allergy?

I am curious if the nickel present could make its way into your body.

I only use the 400 mesh in my wicks. I use the pipe filters in the bonuts.

I think my cotton-wicked CE2 is nearing the end of it's long life. Switching over the the rebuildable Stone V3 tank w/ cotton wick.

(Just posting this because it's been a WHOLE DAY since the last post in here )

Not sure, at the very least 100 mLs. I was using this CE2 with the silica wick for a while before switching to cotton.

Was the cotton wick black like a burnt marshmallow? I put 60 mil through one of my E-2's and it was black/black but it still vaped good. I just changed it out yesterday for no other reason than to have somethin to do.
I also rewired a ole 510 attie with a cotton wick. It was alright but not as good as a E-2. :>)

I had about 4 or 5 cotton wicks in the CE2 since switching, and basically just because I could . I was rinsing the wick and coil under hot water every couple of days; except for the next to last wick. That one was used for about a week and a half w/o a rinse. I tried pulling the wick through to a clean spot but didn't have much luck. The coil was very black and cruddy but that part of the wick rinsed fairly clean. Dry burned and rewicked it; but still getting dry hits from it. Already had the Stone tank set up so just decided to switch over to it.
