Wick materials. Safe vs dangerous.

You know, I think I found that out yesterday too! My first set up was 2 full yarn pieces, made another with just 1, then took the just one and separated the 4 smaller strands that make a standard yarn. I used 3 of the smaller strands. It kept getting better and better with fewer dry hits as I progressed. I think what I was doing was in effect like cutting the silicone cap, because it just really made the notches a lot less pinched off with so much wick.
In fact, I think the reason it was happening is as the wick was great at first, they were swelling up with time and basically closing the notches up more and more and that's when I began getting dry hits. Now it seems work great!

I have only been using 1 yarn piece (4 strands )... That would explain why you had more dry hit's with the thicker juice.

So just like Perlions posted a couple pages back I've also been playing with cotton wrapped mesh wicks in my Line...first, I wanted to make sure is wasn't some "one off" that wouldn't last and run you guys down a rabbit hole but this seems to work really good...btw, this is only really for the genny guys and this is how I do it...

I did this with my GTUS only I used cotton batten. Just spin the wick and the cotton sticks right to it. It looks like a q-tip. I think this is the best my GTUS has ever hit.

Just made a 1.5 ohm coil with the square cotton wick. Used 2 pieces doubled up. Installed in my ODY and I'm really happy. Took about 5 minutes to break in and now great flavor and great vape.

It's 2 mm. So doubled up its about 4.
Been vaping it for an hour and it's really good. Wicked cheap as well. I did boil it for a half hour. I think this is my new set up.

I did it with a super thin layer of cotton wrapped around several times until I could no longer see the ss wick through it.
