So I tried using cotton wicks for my vivi nova for the first time. I tried 100 percent sterilized cotton balls and 100 percent rolled cotton. I watched the video that people were referring to a while back on how to use the cotton wicks. They seem to work but the flavor is off. The only way to describe it is a cotton like taste, if that makes sense. I made sure that the wick was primed well and even waited for the wick to become saturated before trying. Has anyone else had this issue?

*nevermind, found my answer a few pages back and will try again tonight.

My first cotton thread wick had what I called a wet string taste, maybe the same as you are describing. I tried again with half the amount of cotton and the odd flavor was gone, wicks just as well.

That is what I am noticing with Gauze. The less I use the better it seems to perform. I am going to try just a single tiny tiny wick tonight. I had one that was pretty small already but double twisted itself so it wrapped over itself kinda like a braid if that makes sense. The taste is OK but not great. No Dry Hits though so I think I am on the right path. Think its getting close to being all the way dialed in.

This is what I use, it has two densities, the outer is fluffy and the inner more spongy.

So the fluff is what I'll insert in the cart? Monster setup on the a2 btw

I have to agree. I've been using small cotton batten wicks and gauze threads. To me, the overall experience is better with the smaller wick verses large. I use an 18 gauge ish size screw for my coils and my wicks slide easily into them.

That sounds clever! You don't find that the coil needs to be tighter on the wick then.

tight is bad. The cotton swells a bunch. If I make mine big enough where it will still easily slide in and out it works like a champ.

Thanks. I'm able to slide the wicks with only a little resistance. Hopefully that's not too tight. I use a straightened safety pin to hold everything while I wrap the coil. When I remove it, things are looser. All seems well though, but the screw probably makes the coils almost perfect. Gotta try it!

Put a new cotton wick in my CE2 yesterday. This one is a little tight; started getting the first coloring of my clear juice using cotton if I vape below 1/2 full on this XL CE2. It is rather cool though , you can see the color travel down the wick.

I wrapped a CE-5 yesterday with cotton gauze and I made it a little too tight to see what happens. Got a burning taste right off the bat, thats what happened. i wont be trying that again. the next one I'll see what happens if I wrap it too loose. LOL
