6V juice box
I got my first mod built finally.. Radio shack project box,[IMG][/IMG] with 2 cr123 700 mah Ultralast batts. radio shack momentary switch, and yes last but not least warps rca adapter for 510 atty connection. great throat kick. I love this thing, its not so pretty looks like a remote detonator. But I cant put it down.
The rca connection to the atty gave me the most trouble. I had to put a spring around the atty threads to make the circumference big enough for the rca adapter to fit snug, then I zip tied the thing together. Kinda fragile but functional.
Much thanks to you people in the forum, and much trial and error from me and my shaky ass soldering skills. I will post some pics if I can. Now off to finish my maddog torch. Thats going to be 6 V also I cant go back. I may try the 5 V since I have a bunch of the 5 volt regulators.
Here are the pics.. any better way to do this? (upload pics that is)
://juicebox2009.shutterfly.com/ add the http in there.

Yeah, you should post pics Jason, what you mention about the RCA is confusing, did you attach the actual atomizer to the plug?
Because if you did, no wonder you had a hard time, but nothing that can't be corrected.
Let me know and I will be glad to help you with it.
Hope to see some pics soon.

I think its better to USE 5v regulator. A good thing about them is not only that they drop the voltage, but regulate the maximum Ampere current that is allowed to pass through the atomizer. The LM2940-5 that I using now in a mod limits the maximum current to 1A (same as most USB-passthough do). This saves the life of the atomizer too...

I attached the atty to the cut open end of a male rca plug. I destroyed quite a few of the old set I had around the house. alomst all of them we cheap crappy ones that would not work for this application. I will post a close up pic of my atty and connector so you can marvel it. it has no plastic around it just a metal clasp and a zip tie holding the metal prong in a plastic nub and the atty threads inside. a picture is worth more than this post.
Warp you in the atx area? 512 ftw.

Yes, that is what I though according to your post, my question is what will you do when your atomizer dies, will you just dump both the atty and the RCA plug?
Here is how you can do it, just make one right and you are free from doing it anymore. The RCA plug is meant to be an adapter for the atty but not part of the atty. Here are pics and details about it:
The PVMA no more worries for batt connectors!
Don't hesitate to send me a PM or post your questions here, I will be glad to help you with it.
Yes, right now I'm in TX, but I'm so far west that even most Texans don't know it exists.

How do add usb charging to this? I have seen posts about it, but am unsure if these batts can be charged via usb.

OK, here is one of the best all in one boxes I have seen:
USB rechargeable Nicostick
Here is another option:
USB charger built in for nicostick
Unfortunately as far as I remember, I have not seen anyone that has made a box charging 2 batteries at the same time, and I would be cautious because it is very different charging 2 in series and 2 in parallel.
Hopefully someone else can add some info related.
