My impatience got to me and I decided the waiting for dealextreme delivery was too much and decided to buy one of these maglights directly from CVS for $9.99 s i can get everything in place for my charger and battery delivery.
The flash light looks identical, except it has an Outback logo of some sorts on it.
The problem is that I cannot get the circuit out like you suggest with a socket. It seems to be sealed on, part of the casing?
The lens is held in with a beveled end.
Anyone else looked at these in CVS?
I wonder what the work around would be. They look the same as the hawaiian magnum.
Here is when you are going to have to be clever. From the description you provided, the circuit board would be removed toward the battery side, not the lens side of the top section. Fitting stuff from the bottom was more difficult than doing so from the top. Is there a silver 'retaining ring' holding your circuit board in place? If so, removing that ring should allow everything to fall out easily.
Good luck getting it out intact. I pried mine out with a jeweler's screwdriver , X-acto knife with a no. 11 blade and a miniature needle-nose pliers. If you can keep it intact, that would be good. I pretty much mangled the crap out of mine and decided to use an internal retaining ring to hold it together. Of course, you would need a retaining ring pliers; another tool expenditure.
Try to keep your wires as short as possible as they like to poke out from under the circuit board when you try to assemble the completed unit.
Where could a resistor be added somewhere to lower the charge a bit so as not to BURN up atomizers? Or is that necessary???? What`s your luck so far with atomizer fries?
I did not use a resistor in my Magnums. Will you burn out a few atomizers while you learn to vape at higher-voltages? Yes you will.
A forum member posted this great mod to the circuit board to cut down on wires and to accommodate the resistor for the LED and a diode to slightly reduce voltage. It was several months ago, but below is the diagram. I do not remember who posted it.

Just wondering what is the best part to use for the battery connection of the atty to the flashlight? I have looked for all kinds of parts and was thinking since the 901 is actually a m8 thread that maybe some type of coax connector might work. Has anyone looked for a M8 type of battery connector yet? If so what has been found.
Mad dog Thanks for this incredible invention as it must be great...I am working on a cheaper version with a light from Dollar Tree and have my tactile button and led mounted. The nice thing about this light is the board already has the diode on it. I just need my battery connector for the atty and I will be ready to fire it up and see how it works. Right now it has 3 AAA's but I plan on converting to one 3.7 or the cr2's like you not sure yet. Let me know about the connection if you can...Thanks
Scott
I did this mod, it came out nice, however I was burning out atomizers like crazy. Don't know if its the way I vape or not, but I killed 3 attys in 2 days with this thing. The only things I did differently was I did not use an LED, perhaps Maddogs LED has some voltage drop across it? Also, for testing I used Duracell non rechargable CR2's, maybe that's why. I dunno, but it looked great, felt great in the hand, and had MONSTER throat hit. I've since gone to a 4AA 5V box mod instead.
