Update on the 801s I got...

I spent 4 solid hours last night using the 5.2 Ohm 801 at 5, 6, and 7.4 volts. This is the first time I've ever given 801s a serious attempt - they don't feed very well so require dripping, and I have come to hate dripping onto 801s, especially last night. I spent some of the time dripping onto a stock 801 at 3.7 and 5 volts, just to make sure it was me and not these atties. For me, I never seem to get much notice that the atomizer is dry until I take a hit and get a sudden rush of burnt taste and harshness. I generally use 510s, and occasionally a 901, and almost never drip unless I'm trying to get an atomizer going again.

So much of this review is user error due to my inexperience with 801s. But some isn't.


I found both 6 and 7.4 volts to be somewhat close in taste, vapor, and overall experience, with 6 volts leading for my preference. I found both to be better than stock 801s at 5 volts, but not by a huge amount. Stock 801s at 3.7 volts was in last place for preference.

I found vapor production to be inconsistent. Comparing to stock 801s at 5 volts, I don't think this was me or my inexperience with 801s. I almost never had a problem dripping 3 or 4 drops onto a stock at 5v. I always had a problem dripping 3 or 4 drops onto one of these atties - no vapor, just gurgling. After a bit of a fight I could get it going again. After many fights I limited myself to 2 drops.

And this caused burning issues. 2 drops at 6v doesn't last long, and I would soon get the burnt experience. Once this was quite bad, and I think I lost one of these atties when it went dry at 7.4v - the burnt flavor inherent to this particular 801 is now over-whelming, and I dropped 7.4v after that and stuck to 6v. The other is still usable with ejuice flavors that cover that, like coffee.

Compared to the stock 801 at 5v last night, I also had occasion to get that burnt taste. I think this was due to my staying with 2 drops on both. I did not feel it fair to compare 2 drops on one of these atties to 4 drops on a stock atty, so I did 2 drops on both. Though I got burnt tastes with the stock 801s, it was never as harsh or as bad as these 801s at 6v, let alone 7.4.

As a note, in the last 2 months of vaping 510s at 5v I have not lost a single atty to burning when dry. I did lose 1 atomizer after burning it due to a very clear and obvious user error early in my vaping. Once I did that, I learned my lesson, and have not lost a 510 to burnt taste after that.

So I feel that I lost one of these atties to its inability to handle more than 2 drops with consistency - this led to very sudden juice burn-off which didn't give me much of a chance to detect that it was about to go dry. With 2 drops giving 4 or 5 hits that's not much of a window to detect impending dry-out.


I do not blame the atomizer entirely. I certainly realize that some of the issues are due to my inexperience with 801s. If I was a pro with the 801 these issues would have been greatly reduced and possibly eliminated. But since doots also say some inconsistency then maybe it's not entirely me.

Also note that I am very sensitive to burnt atomizers. I do not like that taste, so I say that I "lost" an atty that many people would still keep using. It's quite possible that most people wouldn't even notice that one of my atties is a little burnt. I'd be amazed if someone didn't notice that one of these atties is very burnt - but some might still use it as a daily vape. I put this into my "head-cold" pile, for vaping on days when I'm too stuffed up to taste or smell anything.
I think I rambled a bit, so a summary: Great taste, decent vapor production, but inconsistent vapor production. This limited me to 2 drips which lead to a quick dry-out - too quick for me to notice. This led to me "losing" one of these atties at 7.4v, and it now has a permanent burnt taste, though some people might not mind it. The other atty is also burnt, but not nearly so bad. My inexperience with 801s may have led to these problems, but I don't think it was the only cause. I prefer 6v over 7.4 or 5v, and prefer these atties at 6v over stock 801s at 5v or 3.7v. All in all, I think these atties are superior, but I honestly would not lose sleep if they were never available again.

Update on the 510s...

I spent 2 solid days with these 5.2-Ohm 510s, vaping at 5 volts and the occasional 6 volts. I had one brief test at 7.4 volts and won't do that again. I spent most of the 2 days at 6 volts, with some 5v testing just to check. Very very good for a 510. They're not as good as the 801s for taste, but my experience with 510s means I get more vapor. And I have managed a very good feed system for the 510s even with these atties at 6v. IMHO, these 510s are noticeably superior to stock 510s, and work well at 5v or 6v, but 7.4v is too much for me. I would most certainly lose sleep if these 510s were no longer available. That would suck.

Can you get them at different resistances? I'd be interested in 510s and 901s at something like 4.5, 5.2, and 6.0 Ohms.

901s are backordered indefinitely, but I can do 510s/801s at different resistances as long as I get at least 10-20 or so of each package+resistance combo.

hey guys mine just arrived yesterday and im trying them out as we speak, so i will update as i get a better handle on these HVAtties
ok so for clarification i need to know what you guysgot for atties ohm?
all of mine are 5.6 ohm not 5.2???
im not sure if this is what changes things but here are my observations

firstly this is just personal tastes but im nota fan of the bling factor, makes the atties look cheap and weak imho lol
then there is the fact that they do not whick very well on the 801s not even at all
i suspect thuis is something very dum like the bridge beeing maybe 1mm to low of something like that, but that pretty easy to rectify with a simple cart mod

for the HV510 the vapor is very different than a normal one, at 6V it vapes like a fully
charged 3.7 ka 4.2V, the vapor is very cool and there is lots of it
personally its not my kind of vapor to cool and fine
at 7.4V now thats vaping mostly at 8+ it vapes exactly like a fully charged 5V prodigy
5.5V its not 6V though, the vapor is much cooler, the attiy doesnt heat up as much either but you get that extra thickness in the vapor
it is pretty satisfying, i need to tweek my juice to get flavor out of it, my juice at the momment is for a normal 6V

the HV510s are imo very good , onlytime will tell how they handle abuse but at 7.4V they are pretty great, much much easyier to find prtected batts and cheaper too
the only thing that i find needs to be changed is the whicking problem,i would prefer a hotter vapor but the coolness tells me that the atty will last a long time i think..

so for the 801s now this is rediculous even if i shove a cart in there the wool doesnt even touch the bridge!!! that has to be remedified, cant use the atty with driping

at 6V the vapor was the same as 7.4 witch is non existant????

one other thing, im using DXs gray ultrafire 3.7s
and they are lasting a lot lot longwith the HV510, ive vaped about 3ml already and the batts are still showing 3.8

Yes, these higher voltage atomizers should draw roughly 30% less current than a standard 801, and about 1/2 the current of a standard 510 atomizer, which means your batteries will last much longer.
