My (very basic) 510 juicebox

I have had this mod in my head since the first time I saw the Carlos juicebox a few months ago, but never got around to putting it together until last night.

Some concepts that I am trying to test with this are:
1) Bottom feed on the 510. There are a lot of top feed juicemods showing up lately, put I have concerns with needing to "learn" that type of system. It seems like flooding would be very easy until you really had the feel. So far with this setup, I can just push the bottle until I see juice at the threads, and then when I release, it sucks the juice back up. Very little leakage and zero flooding.

2) No hose. I didn't want to add extra hose between the bottle and connector. It seems like that would take an extra long push to get the juice where you want it, and take up extra room.

3) No switch. I don't really see the need for a switch. It just takes up room. In this mod I have just placed a spring in the bottom. To activate the unit you just press down on the battery, which compresses the spring and completes the circuit.

This is not intended to be 'pretty'. I am just testing concepts at this point. As you can see, it is extremely basic. No switch, no tube, no light. It is built in a cheap little battery box. I had started with a ratshack project box, but didn't like all the extra space. I'm not a "glass half full" or "glass half empty" guy. I'm a "glass is twice as big as it needs to be" kinda guy. I noticed that a battery and 6ml bottle would fit in the batt box, so I just went with it.

As you can see, it's about as simple as it gets. About 5 bucks worth of parts, couple hour of build time (for my first one, my next one will probably go together in under an hour). And as I said, not pretty, but so far it's working like a champ.

My next improvement (other than to make it not so ugly) is to put a catch cup around the threads. That way you can squeeze until you actually see juice in the cup then let it suck back. With that there should be zero leakage.

**I would like to thank petercro for the inspiration to do this. While I had the idea long before I saw his mod, I just wasn't motivated to put it together until I saw that his was actually working.

It's just 510 threads with a brass tube that goes into the atty. Then it is all attached to the bottle cap with epoxy. The epoxy also seals everything up and keeps the feed tube centered in the connector. Also prevents anything from moving and shorting.

Quick question, did you buy the copper foil/tape locally? I've looked but haven't found any locally and I'm afraid if I order online I'll end up buying $100+ worth of other someday useful items!

I got a couple sheets of it from a metal supplier. A 4"x4" sheet was only a couple bucks. I got it when I ordered lots of tubing in various sizes for another mod I'm working on. I got sheets of 18 and 24 gauge, I think that was the 18 I used here. The shipping was a little ridiculous on this order though. I got $19 worth of metal and paid around $18 for the shipping . I *think* you can get some small sheets at Hobby stores. That's where I got the small tubing that I used in this mod. This mod required so little copper, that I probably could have pilfered it from lots of different things around the house. (doesn't have to be copper either, just something conductive, and solderable)

You can't get any more basic than your build. And I do like basic.
The simplicity is great.
How is the air flow on the 510, without the base air hole in use.
Good vape, Medium vape?
Is the brass pipe in the bottle the same one as is soldered in the battery connector?
If you need copper, try plumbing piping, cut down middle and hammer flat.
If you need copper tape, MastiffMike / Highping, PM me, I have a spare role or two.

Yeah, I figure the less things than can go wrong, the less will go wrong. Plus, I was just wanting to get this thing slapped together so I could see how it was going to act. There are many things that need improving...
The "switch" for one, needs to come out of the box, so I don't have to push my finger down into the box to get it to fire. (pretty small detail, and probably has a very simple remedy...like a little 3/8 copper endcap cut short and soldered to the top plate).
Also like I mentioned in the OP, if the threads had a little "catch cup" around them, I could just pump until there is juice in the cup, then let it get sucked back.
And I need to come up with a little less 'ghetto' looking box to put it in. I would love to be able to mold and shape my own plastic case for it (like tinear has done with his mahmba), but I just don't have the knowledge (yet).

Air flow is fine. Most BB mods restrict flow through the center hole on the atty, so it pretty much hits like my chucks.

Yes, the tube is a solid piece that runs from the atty strait down into the bottle. But it is not soldered to the connector at all. The epoxy keeps it centered in the connector and isolated from the outer threads. The white wire is soldered to the outside of the tube just above the bottle cap and the black wire is soldered to the outside of the connector. Then the whole thing is covered in the epoxy.

Appreciate the offer, but I still have a sheet of the 24 gauge copper that is very thin and bendable. Just curious, can you solder to that tape?
