    Default 18650 eGo Mod

    Joyetech eGo-T Mod 18650 2200mAh Battery - MyFreedomSmokes.com

I purchased one of these today and love it. Nice looking and a great bargain. One nice feature is that once the battery is installed, the unit can be recharged using a standard eGo charger. No need to remove the battery or buy a universal charger.

Another nice feature is that it can run in regulated or unregulated mode. Unregulated mode definitely hits harder. I also believe this is the lightest 18650 mod I have ever used.

    Thanks MFS,

Bought the same unit from MSF. It is my first ecig with removal battery. I do like it but it doesn't hit any harder than my Ego 650 mah. I was uncertain about the use of the Joytech unprotected battery, since ECF says not to do that, but no one could shed any light on that with the EGO control unit (posted the question in the APV forum). I bought an AW 3100 mah battery from super-t. So I have both the Joytech 18650 battery and the AW to go with it. The AW battery is about 3mm longer but will work in this mod.

True, unprotected batteries are a no-no except for safe chemistry batteries. I am using AW IMR batteries because I already had some. Where did you learn that the Joytech 18650 is unprotected? I'd be curious to know because that is a very important detail.

Been using this unit all day and liking it even more. I haven't seen a bargain like this in a long time. Serious bang for the buck. This little beauty is a winner.

I thought I read it on the MFS web site, but I cannot find that now. The Joytech 18650 battery does not say protected on it, just ICR 18650 2200 mah 3.7v. The black AW 3100 mah does say protection built in on the battery. But, from an external view, they appear to have the same types of end caps, just 3mm longer for the AW. I have been using both the Joytech and AW batteries in it. I believe the tube end cap is designed to release in case of any pressure build up like the regular EGOs. And, do the regular EGOs have protected batteries in them?

Thanks for the reply. This is a common source of confusion. So many batteries are made in China, re-branded, re-labeled, and in the end it's hard to know for sure. Protected batteries are typically a couple mm longer because of the protection circuitry.

I just found where I saw that the Joytech 18650 2200 mah battery is unprotected. It is at Health Cabin. They sell the Joytech battery for this mod. Look on their web site you will see it.

Yes I definitely see that now. Good find. Glad I chose to use my AW IMR batteries. Maybe the fine folks at MFS should look into the details of this battery. This is not meant to slam MFS. There are so many batteries on the market it's hard to keep up. This may or may not be the same battery but it sure looks like it.

Other than size and replaceability, what would be the difference in using this Joytech 18650 battery and using a standard EGO in regards to safety? It is the battery that Joytech makes for this mod.

Regarding battery safety, much has been written in this forum...

Warning - rechargeable batteries for APVs

An unprotected battery should not be used. Period. Fires and explosions can and have happened. There is no such thing as a 100% safe battery. Even eGo batteries have failed...

Since I have two of the Joytech 18650 batteries, I have ordered the Vape-Safe to use with them when I do not have the AW battery in.
