10ml bottle = how many packs?
I'm trying to do a little bit of a cost-benefit analysis. A few different searches did not find me the answer. I basically am trying to calculate the equivalent cost-per-pack if you go electronic.
Ignoring all other costs (equipment) In your estimation, how many packs-worth of cigarette do you think are in one 10ml bottle of juice?
If you have any other estimations that would help me calculate the cost of smoking electric, i would appreciate that too.
Thanks much!

just a guess from my experiance, really depends on how and how much you smoke it
10ml for me last about 1/3 of a month so 1/3 of month roughly 9 days
9 packs divide this by two because you have to smoke about twice as long at 36mg to equal a cigarette.
so i would say 4.5 packs
again this is just a guess from the way i vape and my experiance of smoking around a pack a day or less

used to smoke 14 packs cigs per week now I vape 20ml .
So for me it replaces 7 packs of cigs.

I am relatively new at this, but what I found by my experience and what read is as follows:
An easy way to calculate the cost is based on the average liquid usage. On average, people vape about 2 ml per day (1.5-1.8 ml for me). say about 90 cents per ml. So, the daily cost is about $1.80.
Keep in mind that your "smoking" pattern changes. I vape more often than I used to smoke (more convenient), perhaps, in a shorter duration (no need to "finish" the e-cig unlike analog). In this sense, the average liquid usage would be a better way to estimate the cost than "pack."
The cost per ml can vary widely, especially if you buy high nicotine (36mg or 48mg) and dilute it with PG. PG cost only 2 cents / ml, at most, off-the-shelf. You could buy e-liquid directly from China, which would also affect the cost/ml. But about 90 cents/ml is what you can, without diluting, no hassle.
e-liquid: $1.80/day * 365 days/yr = $657
analog: $6/pack * 1 pack/day * 365 days/yr = $2,190
No contest!
You can also think it this way.
2 drops = 1 analog cig
20 drops = 1 ml
20 cigs = 2 drops * 20 = 40 drops = 2 ml
Which comes to 2 ml = 1 pack. Which means, again, $1.80 /"pack-equivalent" to $6.00 / analog pack.
You can also go by the nocotine content. People intake average about 1mg from smoking 1 cig. Analog cig has a lot more than 1mg, but most gets destroyed in, guess what, the fire. I heard only 1mg gets absorbed into body. On the other hand, in vaping about 98% of nic gets absorbed.
This gets little complicated because the varying nic content in e-liquid (0mg, 11mg, 18mg, 24mg, etc). Take 18mg liquid. It is 18mg / ml. So, 10 ml has 180 mg, which is equivalent to 180 cigs = 9 packs.
Hope this helps.

The figure that I see quoted on here is that we typically use 2mls per day on average. From my own experience that's about right. So 10mls is equivalent to 5 days on the cigarettes. At roughly 5 quid a packet that's 25 quid minimum as opposed to roughly 7 pounds for 10ml. A clear winner, I think. The only fly in the ointment are the inevitable 'set-up costs' and the irresistible desire to acquire different e-cigs, paraphernalia and different types of juice!

This is extremely helpful! Thanks for all the calculations!

I am not so sure one can do a relevant "cost-benefit" analysis. I have been buying my smokes from the "1st Nation reserves" for years now, $15-$20 per carton. I just set up a quit smoking banner and realized that vaping will actually cost me more dollars than smoking, by far. After a minute of thought, I decided that since I am not able to go out and purchase a new pair of lungs at present, although vaping will not save me dollars, the health benefits of no carcinogens is priceless.

I hope you realize that you are in the small, small minority that has access to cheap cigarettes. I live in Georgia and consider myself lucky to be able to get a pack for $3.50 when I buy them by the carton. For most people even a $4/day juice habit is a steal compared to a $10+/day analogs.

Lakota - something you can do to double your liquid cheaply is to buy some pg or vg. Then buy 36mg and do a 50/50 mix. Then you can always add your own flavors to boost the flavor back up.
I'll agree with the usage. I tend to use around 2 to 2.5ml a day. My last order was two 10ml bottles which i used some at full strength, and the rest was mixed with VG. 20 days later and i still have a days worth of liquid left.
A brit living in the heartland and loving it !!
